Goodbye Max

Sold the 96 SE 5speed today.

She had 126k, and no problems. Hated to see her go. By far the best car I've owned.

Sent the buyer away with a couple of print outs from the org, and a strong recomendation for the site.

I bought an '05 Pathfinder to replace the max. Needed the room (and torque) to schlepp the family around and pull the boat that the Max will help pay for. I'll be back in a car one day. I'm already looking forward to it.

BTW. The buyer was a young Honda convert. He'd had a highly modded Civic stolen and stripped. He stumbled into the virtues of the Maxima while researching new vehicles. He was pumped to find a 5 speed, and was the first one that looked at the car who knew what the mods were. Glad I didn't have to pull anything off to sell it. Hopefully he'll give her a good home.

Thanks to everyone for the all the support. I'm off to look for mods for the Pathfinder.

See Ya.

wow the new owner is lucky ... 126k for a 96 is fairly low mileage IMO and a 5-spd!

curious, how much did you end up selling it for??

Good luck with the new Pathfinder !

i dunno how labor intensive the P/S pump is, but 4600 is a STEAL.

I'm guessing the only major thing he'd have to do is get his tranny rebuilt in the next year or two and it should keep pulling hard. lucky ****!

oh yeah, i bought my '96 with 134k miles from my cousin who had kept it in really good condition .. and even then , i got a "hookup" price for $6000. I remember, when I got pulled over by a cop a week after I had gotten the maxima, when I gave him the temp. registration, he asked me how much I got the car was and told me I got it for a "steal of a deal" ... then he gave me a ticket for a stupid unsafe lane change .

Lost our Maxima last Thursday in car accident.....

undefinedOur 17 year old had been handed down our awesome car it had 143,000 problem free miles on it fully loaded Daughter thank god is fine but car suffered 7200.00 damage. They say the air bags and sensors alone would be 3200.00. Anyway State Farm is only offering us 4300.00 replacement value on it. They say based on midwest prices that is fair price on it. Anyone have any evidence it should be worth more? Has anyone recently bought one for more? Thanks so much We are so heartbroken over our maxima. jeesh. Cheap cars for the kids from now on!!! Thanks for any input! Dru

go to a dealership and look at maximas. or the websites. try to find one with almost the same specs such as the model close year and close mileage. tell them taht in order to replace the car that you were driving is that price. and you can tell them no, that price seems unfair and they will do something for you. dunno HOw much they an give you more, but at least a good $1000 in my opinion
