Ive got brake issues.. please help me!

Alright 2 major problems with my brakes. (maybe one isnt too major, but to me it is) Ok, i will be driving down the road and i def. need new pads, but i will hear the squeaking from my rear brakes while i am driving, with no pressure on brake pedal at all. i even put my foot UNDER the pedal and tried to lift it up in case there was slack, but nada. still squeaking. Another thing is today i was driving home(a bit too fast) and had to stop from 60 at a stop sign. about 10m away, my brakes felt like mush. i was flooring them and it was barely slowing down. this is from about 25 now. is it just because my pads are shot and my rotors heated up or what. sorry for the long post but i am an information *****. thanks!

The squeaking when not pressing on the brake could be one of many things, though likely something rubbing against the rotor, or more likely something in the caliper sticking (holding the pad against the rotor after releasing the brake).

As for the loss of stopping power, worn pads and rotors will definitely do that. If your brakes feel like mush, there's probably air in your lines. Hydraulic brakes work by transferring power, and if you have air in the lines, you'll compress that before you can transfer using the brake fluid... time to bleed your brakes.

All in all, sounds like you need a brake overhaul - new rotors, pads, clean up calipers, bleed the system.

^ what he said.

Also mushy non responsive brakes could indicate that there is just no brake pad left. You could be braking with metal on metal. Not a very efficient way to stop. In fact in an emergency it could be very dangerous. I would have them fixed as soon as possible.

I just changed the front pads on my '95 (the rotors still looked smooth) and now I can't tell if I'm hearing them rub, or if that's tire noise (rotated tires as well). I have Firehawks on the car, and they are quite possibly the loudest tires I've ever heard...I don't think it's an alignment issue as it tracks fairly straight on flat road. Is it possible that brand new pads would be able to contact the rotor if all the springs were put back in?

the square cut seal on the piston retracts the piston. its either bad/leaking/torn. or you just need new rear pads.

The rear calipers could be sticking on the pins. I replaced the pins and rubber boots and it cured my high pitchs sqeaking when I did my rear pads and rotors.
