ok so if anybody has noticed, i posted here at every bump in the road for this. dont hate me, that tutorial i was using just sucks. so many gaps and crutial things left out. i think im going to make a tutorial LEDs for dummies.
LOOOKdomain page with led needle pics theyre blue! but this camera makes them look purple. oh well they look awsome.
i want to make these lights brighter, they have a 470 ohm resistor on them

i was the first one to see them and they look good. i suppose that even though they are a dark blue, they are still pretty easy to see?

ya, thats what I thought, but it does look good, but the speedometer isn't really very clear, I mostly see the needle and nothing else... but still, I wish I knew how to do stuff like that, so props to u nonetheless...

Well the needles came out awesome... just use single wedge bulbs in your dash so you don't see hot spots.

The 194s might be too big for the holes on your 99.

Look here: http://superlumination.com/74.htm

I know the 74s will fit but are a bit small and not as bright as stock.
Maybe try the size 24 bulbs they have halfway down the page.

i think including everything, this all took me like 5+ hours probably more. excluding the driving and looking i did for parts. i didnt have any special tools so i bought soldering stuff for 15, and a dremel for 35 bux! and almost everything else.
before doing this i had never realy soldered, taken a dash apart, or mapped out a circuit, and i didnt know what a resistor was for. but it says to use them so i did. i didnt think i could do this stuff, but at the same time i said well im going to do this and make it all work, its all right here in tutorials.
i tried an LED with no resistor on to see if it was brighter but it turned red, melted and then POPPED. i sh@t myself!
i asked alot of questions too

i put 4 blue LEDs, 1 to each guage needle and 4 blue 194 bulbs into the old bulb holes. its blazing sunlight out so i cant realy see but they all work and the pics on my car domain are only the 4 LEDs to the guages. i hope this evens the brighter spots out with the 194 bulbs. WOOOO
if anyone ever needs LED help id be glad to try, theres nothing like somebody willing to help you out.
im going to post tonights pics...if theyre good

looks good man. I tried this on my guages last week but I couldn't find a good spot to put the leds behind the mph needle. has anybody successfully did this on a 95-97 guage since there is that odometer blocking access from behind the needle?

yup that would be yours
no i guess i didnt mean that. not to say im not grateful and its not some attack against you but its a little hard to follow sometimes. id never realy soldered before, but i did this whole mod with your tutorial. so im thankfull and at the same time, i would like to write a more specific guide and not leave any detail to assuption. a few small steps i had to actualy use my brain ,there was vague instruction and i had to THINK....MAN. nah im jj. dont take offence to me plz man

still a tiny bit un-even but at the bottom theres a pic of the needles now. 194 bulbs in with the LED needles. looks sweet...but i have to even it out a bit. and fix my odometer's light..i tried an LED in its place and it only flashes on ignition and then turns off, almost instant.http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/786951/1

That looks sooo hot! I love it. I want to do that but I'm not nearly brave enough to try it on my own. If I drive my Maxima out to BC, I'll have to get you to show me how! Good job!

thanks alot guys. man im happy with it now that it's finished. im a perfectionist like most of you guys, and im always going to look for things to make it better. im thinking of a few things to try like tin foil or something...that might suck or even better maybe some ultra clear plastic to conduct the light around, something like what's already in there, but more
--<NEED MORE MOD>
anyways thanks again and whoever isnt sure about trying these kinds of mods, sometimes u should just go for it. if you dont know how, then youll learn!
and Northern, for sure id help u out man. i like to have help and i like to offer it. if anyone has a question they dont want to make into a whole post that wont get answered, then u can PM me and ill try
