The Gen ll's fit very nicely on the '97-'99 trunk.
Actually I don't mind seeing the amber bulbs when they're not lit up. Now if there's a bulb thats not visually amber until they light up then I'd go for them! When I hit the auto lock button on the key fob I really like how much brighter the ambers are than they were in the red/clears.

I've been getting a lot of PM's on how to do this, unfortunately I didn't take the time to take pics, but here's some stuff to consider:
As far as doing it, was a lot of CAREFUL grinder work, you reeeally need a grinder, some cutting, and some welded support brackets, I wouldn't recommend it unless somehow you could recess it, but interesting project. What I didn't like is how on the parts facing towards the center of the trunk, I had to build out with sealer which up close looks thick, I'm sure the average guy would never notice, but you know how it is when you do something yourself you see all the flaws, with a 97 trunk the lights sit in recessed, but beggars can't be choosers, wrecker parts up here in BC Canada are very rare. The more I look at it the more I’m willing to live with it, I’m pretty picky but I’m glad to say there are no leaks. I also had to convert the 1156 back up lights to what 97’s use which is a #921 bulb, I found a generic #164 socket that I made fit the 921 bulbs fit in 164 sockets) until I can get to a wrecker to get the proper plug in. You will also have to reallign the trunk, which is easy by loosing the for bolts on the hinges two each side. I found this out the hardway and consequently chipped the end of one of the lights. Hope this helps and good luck. I gotta say I love the lights
