I second the suggestion for Hawk pads, based on the fact that the street/track pads (HP+) are fookin amazing

I confirm. Just installed Hawk pads with stock rotors (...sadly), and they doing a great job. Quiet and excellent brakin performance.

while we are on the subject of brakes and i still cannot form new threads,
i tried looking for something on drilled/ slotted rotors. I plan on getting these that u recommend by the way. Which is the best to go with ? drilled? slotted ? or drilled and slotted ? perhaps stock ? what ive heard is that the drilled rotors crack ? and i should go with slotted only?
Hopefully somebody can enlighten me on where i should go with this. Thanks in advance.

x-drilled are fine, unless you are going to be road racing.

I put on duralast gold pads and it sucked. if braking from a high speed, my brakes actually started smoking and sparks came out.

i'm running red stuff's.....they are cool for normal driving, but DIG when you slam em. I love em. They are full ceramic, big difference from stock pads with stock rotors

I highly recommend OEM for several reasons. First, you can find them anywhere for 20% off, no tax, no shipping.

Secondly, they last. I replaced my fronts at 54k or so (98 SE 5-spd) and they were only 60% gone. I had bought the kit as well, didn't use it, and actually forgot to reinstall the old shims on one side. NEVER any squeal or groan since. Did the rears with OEM at around 89k. They were about 80% gone but crumbled when I took them out, due to age.

All in all, OEM is a guaranteed solution where there is no noise, and you know they'll last. Win-win if you ask me.

From everything I've seen with Maxima brakes in the last few years, 90% of the problems with warped and cracked rotors point to the OEM pads.
I would highly recommend NOT using them.

street pads I would recommend:
Bendix IQ
Raybestos Quiet Stop
Wagner
Performance Friction
Axxis MM (Axxis Ultimate = track pad)
Hawk HPS. (HP+ = track pad)

unless you're doing a lot of HARD stopping on the street, i.e. severely illegal driving, then you will never run the car hard enough to need pads like the HP+ or Axxis Ultimates on the street. they will actually do more damage to the rotors because they never get heated up to their proper operating temperature... use a pad that's designed for street use and the pads and rotors will last much longer.
If you decide to go to the track, then spend the money on an additional set of track pads and swap them out when you get there. trust me, you'll save a ton of money that way.

i had Axxis mm pads and they had to be the worst pads i ever owned.....made groaning sounds, almost no braking power in the morning, ate through them in 6 months, dusted to all hell. Only decent thing about them was the braking power when warmed up which was slightly better than stock. I went back to stock pads and im on the same pads for about 2 years now, no noise, decent stopping power and virually no dust compared to the MM's. I might try the hawks out when the stock wears out but never again will i get Axxis pads.

Ya i got KVR brake pads from PDM racing. Thought that maybe they would last long time and have low dusting for a street pad with brembo Slotted/drilled. i put them on like a little over a month ago and it seems like there more than after way gone already and my wheels never looked dirtier. I think ill go back to stock, ive heard they were cremic
