I painted the part that said Nissan and put masking tape over all of the grey area in the middle. Worked just fine!
Vaseline would probably be pretty messy!lol

i say use masking tape and an exacto-knife like i did, and cut out each letter then spray away and peel off

That's what I did also; it took me almost an hour. Someone a year or so ago on this forum bought some sort of liquid masking product from Home Depot. IIRC, it was kind of like rubber cement. If you get it, let us know how it goes.

You can do what all of these guys have posted. Another way to do it is paint the letters also and when it dries, sand with 1500 grit sandpaper to sand the letters to get them back to the original paint. I did the masking tape thing tho.

I used 500 deg. engine paint for both color and clear. It's held up well for 2 years.

500 degree engine paint. It also resists gas spills.

I just used vaseline and it worked great. Just cover whatever you dont want painted with the vasilene. Lets it dry over night and then i just used the hose to get it all off.

There you go! Take some pics of it when done.

The paint that I used dried quite dull looking. Is there a high heat gloss that can be used?
