Did your cv shaft only make noise when decelerating?

I'm quite sure mine going bad, and I have had cv shafts go bad before, but they never sounded like grinding metal (that's the noise I get now). Not to mention it does it only when decelerating, whether I'm on the brakes or not. As soon as I touch the gas, it goes silent.

It's not the brakes, and the wheel bearing seems to be intact (no play or wobbling).

Any thoughts?
