just changed my tranny oil...

I changed yesterday my transmission fluid for MT-90 redline oil....the shifter feeling is so much improved...the gears are really easier to get in and it rides smoothly between each gears....figuring that the redline stuff is 14.XX$/946ml, it really worth the price!!!

Have you ever been told that changing tranny fluid may actually cause ur tranny to foul... something about cleaning off the gears which the tranny is used to being dirty????

I completly disagree with this statement... i've change mine every 15K (or 3rd oil change) and she (my tranny) couldn't love me more...now if you are a dumbass and never touch your tranny for years and thousands of miles and suddenly you want to make it up for it....YOU BET SHE'LL HAVE HER REVENGE.

I bestow on you the **** .orger of the week award. Changing the transaxle fluid on a 5-speed Maxima every 15K is not necessary and is a waste of money. Granted I suspect a lot of owners overlook this important maintenance item (I haven't), but I would think every 30K would be adequate.

I bought her used so im not sure how often it has/hasnt been done. I ran a car fax on her before i bought it and It had a record of service at 59K which had to have been the 60k service by a dealer no? I mean pops garage doesnt end up on car fax... Safe to assuem ithe tranny fluid would have been changed at that point?????

The service at 59K might have been an oil change. I can't see someone going to all the expense of a 60K service and turning around and selling the car. It strikes me that that service would have been a selling feature and evidence of what had been done would have been provided to you.

I would get that tranny fluid checked out, because it may have been changed at 30K but not since.

The synthetic may be more slippery which is not as good for synchro engagement. You may notice some benefit from adding friction modifier, as others have. You can get a small bottle at any Mitsu dealer and just add it to the fill hole. $10-15 / bottle IIRC.
