If you buy the tranny, it will probably come with the speed sensor installed in it. For whatever reason, my 01 came with a factory cap on the speed sensor port so I just used my 1995 one. The tranny shifting feel is definitely better. The shifter **** sits about an inch behind--a good thing with most STS. Personally, I would do the 5th gen swap over a rebuild any day. If you get the non-locking tranny, you can use both your axles. It's just a shame 5th gen trannies are not as cheap as they once were. I picked up mine for around $850 shipped with 13k miles.
