putting a 01 5 speed in a 95

Can i please have info or point me where i can find info on putting a 01 tranny in my 95 is it better? stronger built?? what are the positive gains and negitive thigns about it... is it a direct fit or is there things that im going to need?? I have my tranny out and apart...

Any info and feedback is great

you need a speed sensor from the 01, 3rd gear is stronger. if its the LSD< then you need an LSD driver side axle.

Thats not that bad then i thought there was going to be lots of stuff to do ..... is that good that the shifter sits back farther??

its not a good or bad thing, depneds on if you like it or not. but it wont effect anything

If you buy the tranny, it will probably come with the speed sensor installed in it. For whatever reason, my 01 came with a factory cap on the speed sensor port so I just used my 1995 one. The tranny shifting feel is definitely better. The shifter **** sits about an inch behind--a good thing with most STS. Personally, I would do the 5th gen swap over a rebuild any day. If you get the non-locking tranny, you can use both your axles. It's just a shame 5th gen trannies are not as cheap as they once were. I picked up mine for around $850 shipped with 13k miles.

i used the same speed sensor off my stock tranny and i also didnt have an issue with my shift **** sitting forward since i already had put in a sts

have you ever checked the calibration of your speedo? it might be slightly off

my tranni is shot and i have a 99 max and i am putting a 2000 tranni in what needs to be done to work ? or will it just fit right it
