Y-Pipe Install Help Please!!!

ok today my buddy at work (mechanic at the dealership i work at) installed my y-pipe. what a biotch it was with those old rusted bolts on the cat. Well I got the topspeed y-pipe which is a 2 piece design just like the stillen piece. The second little piece (first downpipe i think and circled in the picture I supplied of someone elses install) of the pipe would not bolt up to the manifold where the stock first precat used to bolt up to. The stock piece has like 5 or 6 bolts from what i can remember and the piece supplied only has 3 (like the other end has in the picture). Can someone tell me what if this piece is supposed to even go on my max? I have a 99SE fed spec. Thanks.

you have a cali spec 99 and you do not use the extension peice. just unbolt the stock Y keeping the 1st pre cat installed.

damn how do I have a cali spec max?? I live in PA and my brother is the one who bought it new back in 99 off of a local dealer. I thought cali spec max's were only sold new in cali? Does this make this y-pipe less useful then if I had a fed spec one? Is there any extension piece made for cali spec maxes that eliminate that first pre-cat? i'm so pissed about this.

well i just checked my vin plate in the engine bay and there was a 'V' for cali spec at the 12th letter. This sucks. Why the hell was there a cali spec max all the way in PA. I work at a dealership and I know there are dealer trades all the time, but they are never across country. This sucks cause I think i just wasted my money on this pipe cause it only eliminated one pre-cat. Anyone know the horsepower gain with this pipe if any?

why not drill more holes on the piece???you DO work at a dealership...pipe is a nice thing to have...but its still to quiet for me...its not even that much deeper....than stock exhaust note...
