Quick idea about the airbox hack.

So I removed my resonator, and was just going to do the airbox hack, but I noticed that the airbox sits directly over the wheel well. Could I truly attain the poorman's CAI by cutting an opening in the bottom of the airbox, and corresponding openings in the wheel well? Then I could block off the opening for the snorkel and have a CAI.
Well that is the theory anyways, anyone have any input?

This just seems better than sucking air from under the hood. Could I run into problems with water?

Thanks guys!

Sorry I hadn't seen one that used the bottom of the airbox to access the wheel well.
The y-pipe aint broke, so why put on a new higher flow one?

Don't do it. Put the resonator back on and maybe drill a hole or two in it. Mostly anything else available will not gain any power, but lose it. I too disconnected my resonator for a while and then realized how dumb i was for doing it. It took away a bunch of low-mid power, which is NOT good, especially in an auto.

meah I like how my intake sounds so bleh. A nice growl at WOT is always a good sound.

Any 1hp or two I lost by going with a 6" K&N filter will be replaced by my exhaust + ypipe ...
