Bad MAF?

So every once in awhile my maxima won't start. I changed the fuel filter and it didn't help. It just cranks and won't fire. When I push on the gas it makes a pop noise and starts right up. What are the simptoms of a bad MAF? Does anyone have any ideas. I have a CAI and Full exhaust so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
LET me KNOW.
THANKS

symptoms of a bad MAF sensor would be stumbling and hesitation in all RPMs or sometimes the car dont accelerate beyond a certain RPP (usually lower RPM range) and if its completely out, the car would start and idle, but once you get on the gas, the car will die.

Check both crank position sensors and the cam angle sensor.

Buy a Haynes manual immediately, they're cheap and required reading! The crankshaft position sensor is located on the aluminum oil pan below the crankshaft pulley (see diagram 9.2, section 6-12 Haynes) and the camshaft position sensor is located on the timing chain cover (see diagram 10.6, section 6.13 Haynes).

I can find no reference to a cam angle sensor.

There was a thread a few days ago re: the camshaft position sensor with a picture posted. You may want to check that out.
