While I had my car on hydraulic lifts last week, during the time I was working on my tranny replacing the ol' worn-out clutch, I suddenly noticed something inside my SE fog lamps. At first, I thought they were just dirt. I looked closely and realized that they were pieces of the lamp reflectors.

So I'm in the market for aftermarket fog lamps. And I need all your help in deciding which looks good in that stock fog lamp opening. Also, I am going to implement an idea I got from another orger after seeing what he did to his own fog lamp holes. I am going to clean the opening up by using a speed grill mesh behind the opening. I'm thinking that black mesh would look better as it will blend in more. I don't want it to stick out.

So gentlemen.............show me your aftermarket fog photos! And please include the make, model, wattage, and color temp (if HID) of the fogs you are using. Thanks.

Autozone fogs w/ 7 color angel eyes. However, I'm about to get stock fogs to replace these. I also put silver mesh all around but its hard to see. Just as a heads up......you can see right through black mesh.

Those look like walmart fogs. My family keeps saying that these walmart fogs will not light up anything, and they're just for looks. Is that true, or do they actually help??

Kevlo911, what kind of fog did you put in? I really like the looks of it. How do they do for the amount of light output?

I really would like to see a round one that somewhat fills up the hole for the stock fogs. I have seen one of those a looooong time ago on a black Maxima. Not sure who's it is.

if your looking for function over style, I'd get yellow fogs, and make sure their at least 55watt bulbs if not more if you really wanna light up the road.

the yellow color won't glare as much as white in rain and fog, and it compliments HIDs or "hyper white" headlights, thats why quality luxo cars like infinity and lexus use yellow fogs.

either way, I'm in the same boat as DR-Max except one of my lights has cracked and now the bulbs blow anytime water gets inside and the lens is starting to get some rust coleration on it.

I was thinking of gettin rounded rectangluar housings from autozone or Advanced, (pilot brand i think) for like $40, I want to see how well they would fit in the stock opening, and what mods would i need to do to place an aluminum piece around the light to close up the opening, maybe even ionize it black or gunmetal!!

Since I dont have fogs stock on my car, I've been toying with the idea of making some kind of "trim Ring" to fill up a stock 95 fog hole if I cut it, and making it so that it looks like it was made for it, then finding a nice fog light to mount to the inside......

stock fogs run about $65-80 each, a decent set of aftermarkets are like $40 a pair!!

tru that the bumper cutout is only designed for the OEM fogs, but I'm really considering fitting aftermarket fogs in there with some anodized aluminum trim to fill in the gaps and make them look as classy as the rest of the car.

either that or I've been toying the idea of customizing the stock fog by cuttin off the back and using an aftermarket housing and bulbs fused to the stock lens, we'll see come next payday

I just went ahead and used a pair of fogs I bought many years ago. I bought 2 pairs of these and only used one. So now I just broke the packaging seal of the 2nd set. It's a Japanese brand Super Fit 50 dichroic fog lamp system (50watts). It's only 2.5" in diameter. And the light output color is yellow. I had a set of these in my 3rd gen Maxima which I used to have 10 years ago, and they were pretty bright for 50 watter.

More photos in my cardomain page.

Next week, I'm going to get a black mesh and cover the entire opening of the fog locations. I will cut a round opening where the fog is at now to make it custom.

i can't really say what kind to get- i just sucked it up and bought some oem fogs. i wanted to get some lexus is300 or infinity g20 fogs and custom fit them, but i got lazy went the easy way out. i heard somewhere on the org that some years of lexus gs fogs fit nicely too, but i guess you wanted to go a bit cheaper than anything oem. if i went aftermarket i would go with optilux- it a division of hella. and they make quality shiit, and they a lot of applications available- a little more expensive than the rest though

I have more important things to spend my money on for the moment: clutch job & new struts and springs. OEM, IS300, Infinity or any of those things will not really benefit me right now in a practical sense. However, it is easy to find a fog lamp system that will out perform the OEM fogs. The only thing that makes it any valuable is the OEM look it gives but it sucks at illuminating the road.

The fogs I've just put in is dichroic. It's only 50 watts but I bet you anything that it will be brighter and will illuminate the road a lot better than the stockers. That's why I went with it for now. Functionality is more important for me at the moment than style. But I think these babies are stylish in their own way. Look at the newer european cars like the new Audi's, they're using compact-sized fog lamp systems.

Thanks for the photos. As I posted below, I ended up using a 2.5" round Dichroic fog lamp setup. It's not bad and not all that either. I'm getting ready to get some black mesh to cover the rest of the stock fog opening. Any suggestions on where I can get them already painted black? I looked around at the HomeDepot and their mesh doesn't look good for the fog opening application. The holes are too small, it almost looks like a screen door thing.

intalling the fog light and switches
hey all, does any know have a write up on how to install the fog light on/off switches on the dashboard, and also how to mount fog lights onto the bumper beam?

I ve never done a mod like this before and i feel nervous dilling holes blindly thru my firewall and my dashboard.

Ok what I have are Raybrig WIRELESS Fogs. You don't run any wires to the dash. Plug and play, power and ground connect everything, I think you tap into your cornor lights so when you turn off your headlights it turns off your fogs. Here are the pics.

MIGHT I ADD, Im replacing them due to the ballist. I had them for 5 years very very durable glass. Bright as hell. Im getting the yellow ones, These were mostly for show but still did its job. Here are the links for them.

thanks for the input smx95. I have a 96 gle with a bumper just like yours. I had never ut/trimmed any bumper b4 so i dont think its a good idea for me to cut the 2 holes on the bumper for the stock fog lights area.

Looking at your picks, did you drill two holes under your bumper beam and then screw in those fog lights on? if so any tips on how i should drill the holes into the metal bumper beam? Also you said to tap into my corner lights, do u mean to splice the appropriate wires from the fogs into the wires for the corner light? I m new to moding cars.......

Those are the CE projector fogs.. do you have a pic of the beam pattern? I'm curious as to whether they're any good or not.
