Widest rim I can fit in the wheel well?

I know the factory are steelies are 15x7.5
What is the widest rim I can fit in it without it sticking out of the wheel well and looking totally ?

Basically I found a set of rims that I would really like but they are 18x8.5.
I don't want the Max looking like something off of Pimp My Ride.
What's the widest I can go?

These are the rims I want.

Thanks!

I have 18x8.5 with a 45 offset and they don't stick out. but I guess it all deppends on the offset. Try the wheels and tires forum.

Stock steelies are 15 x 6. Stock Sawblades are 15 x 6.5. Not sure about the Honeycombs. The stock 2001, '02 and '03 SE wheels are 17 x 7.5's. From what I hear 17 x 8.5's will fit but I think that's really pushin it, I'm in the market for 17 x 8's myself.

i wish i knew this in advanced, there was w guy selling rims off of his wrecked 300zx, staggered set, front was 19x8.5 which i figured was fine, rear was 19x9.5 which i thought would be a problem, i thought it would look awkward and he had some pretty wide tires too. didnt bother making the trip to see him. rim brand was IKON, looked like the HP Evo's.

dude those axis rims look hot, if everyone says the will fit i def say go for them.

Since I was getting 18x8.5 rims I was thinking of getting 245/40/18 tires. I know they will rub a little at full rotation of the steering wheel. I'm more concerned that they will rub the wheel well if I hit a bump. Any of you have that size? If so, do you have any problems?

BTW: I have a 2" drop (crappy DZ springs), but I have 5 way adjustable Tokico's to make up for it.

What do you do when you have to rotate your tires? Do you get them unmounted and remounted?

i have 245/45/17's on my 17x8's and not a single problem with them, you should be fine with a 245/40, or maybe even go with a 255/35 or something.

if not for looks...then wider tire = wider contact patch = better traction = better handling = more fun = not wiping out

Very true. Except in the rain and snow. Wider tires equals no traction in bad weather.

:)

Why the hell are some of you guys putting wider rims in the rear? That makes no sense.

I've personally seen a Max with 10" wide rims, and it stuck out way too far. I bet 9.5" would look awkward to. I bet 8.5" wide would look the best.

how do you figure??? have you seen 10" or 9.5" installed in a maxima? if not please stfu.. its all about the offset..

19x8.5 255/35/19 front
19x9.5 275/30/19 rear
35mm offset..

Are you dense? I clearly said I've seen a Max with 10" wide rims. I looked inside the wheel well and they couldn't go any further, hence the proper offset for that application. Any your 9.5" rims in the rear look like a$$. My opinion, of course. You like em', good for you. But don't tell me to stfu. Grow up dude.

We don't have rear wheel drive cars, why would you guys want to squeeze on a 275 tire in the rear? It makes no sense.

I'm not sure if my eyes are playing tricks on me, but those rims almost make it look like you have whitewalls on your ride. Please Lord say it isn't so.

^^^^^^ yes it looks good, but i dont see why there is a reason for it. looks? it would look equally ill if they were the same width in my opinion. im not knocking, cuz it does look really sweet, im just trying to understand. what would be cool is to put 9.5s front and rear. then you get the deep dish look all around
