Who all has this perception on their Max?

Assuming you have a 2nd car/beater or bike...
You'll keep your current or soon to be Maxima till the wheels fall off.

Even IF you can afford something better...

AND please dont think Im trying to be cocky. This is a serious question....

I migh end up across the country for a year, the maxima will be parked and make a visit to Tilley. The pathfinder will be sold. I could sell both and get something better, but thats not gonna happen. So I agree with you.

Mine is a low-miler that is worth more to me than anyone else. It's not going anywhere anytime soon. I've owned it for going on 11 years and am positive, barring an accident or my demise, I will have it 11 years from now.

As of now it is my only car and pride and joy, I could def see it sharing the garage with another Nissan someday. I will never forget how much I love this car. Can't put a price on it.

Yeah I'm keeping my max until it dies. I plan on my max getting me through college and then some and hopefully moving on to a mazda 6 or the new mazdaspeed 6 but I will probably keep the max around either as a daily driver or maybe an additional car/let me girlfriend use it (she currently has a '97 altima and is extremely jealous of my max )

My Maxima is staying for life. My clutch is ready for another 10 years, hopefully the 5 speed tranny will give me a few more years. When my engine dies, a VQ35 will replace the VQ30 powerplant. I'm slowly restoring her back to mint condition. A Nissan 95 smoke gray paint will replace my current pebble beige color. She'll continue to be my ol' faithful daily driver. However, I'm getting an older used truck for work.

I've only owned it for 5 months and my daughter already teases me that I love my car more than her.

I drove a 95 Chevy Lumina for 8 freaking years. I now have a 99 Maxima SEL w/38k.

Any questions?

Luminas are beasts, my dad had one a few years ago and he totaled 3 cars with it, and the only thing wrong with the lumina was that the bumpers were all scratched and dented (he's a terrible driver).

I've only had my maxima for a few months, but i have a feeling that im keeping it for a loooong time until it dies. When it dies, i'll try everything in my power to ressurect it.

had my max over a year now, and I'm not parting with it anytime soon.

My gf said she caught herself thinking about us 10 years from now (we've only been together a few monthes now), and at the same time I caught myself picturing my maxima 10 years, two engines, three transmissions, and four brake jobs from now ....

I used to be like that. That was back when I was auto. I thought, "Why does everyone complain about this FWD traction problem?" Then I did the 5Spd swap and got really p!ssed at myself. So, I decided to take the best of the Max(The VQ) and add the correct drivetrain to it. I am seriously in love with the VQ but the drivetrain can like my *****. I like the Max's styling and refinement but thats not what I'm after at this point. I just wanna haul some @ss. FWD is not the way to do it.

That's why i'm getting a 240sx as a second car (racing and drifting only), and keeping my more refined max for everything else.

Yes it does. You still gotta have the heavy front rotors on the drive wheels.

This is a good testimonial that the Maxima is NOT a race car, unlike many kids in the org who think otherwise. Not saying you are a kid Broaner. But many thinks that their Maxima is a racer....very unlikely. But it could still haul *** in its own right. Maximas are good sports sedans. But for the serious racer, its best to go with a different car.

I'll keep mine until its 3.5ed and after I purchase a newer/different car the max will become my project car. I want to make it perfect (to me) with go fast mods as well as rims and anything else that I plan to have done to it. It will be a direct reflection of me and my love of the car.

I want to pass my Maxima on to my son. Love that car so much.

I drive a '95 Accord and '00 Ninja 250 as a daily and keep the Maxima under a cover in a garage.

DR-MAX....there's 2 kinds of people who race. Those who KNOW what theyre doing and those who dont. Doesnt matter what kind of car you're in.

There are many "race" inspired Maximas that are faster than f8ck. Broaner's point is his opinion/situation. I totally understand it.

Yea At times I wish I had a 97 so I wouldnt have had to do the lid swap, and wait for an accident to replace front end iwth a 97 one for the kit.

Seriously I love this car and will have it till the day I died or she does, then a new engine will be put in and the vicious cycle starts all over again. I plan to get another car at some point but the max wont leave me, she was my first car and will be my kids first car too, they'll be glad to get a fancy modded machine when they get their liscense.

I hate to rip on everyones parade, but I definately am selling the max when I graduate college. There isn't a day when I don't think about an Integra Type-R, 350Z, or hell an RSX Type-S

Graduate college and you can only think of an RSX-S, ITR? Don't get me wrong, those are nice cars, but when you're done with collelge, depending on the level of your degree, you could probably afford something much nicer, like 350Z ... G35, etc ... and still afford a nice house payment.

I'm keeping my car until it's stolen or on fire. Hell, I've replaced the engine, tranny and suspension...not much else can go wrong (crosses fingers). Why sell it? It's only gonna get better and faster.

Understood...mine is also a personal opinion. I just forgot to put IMHO in the last post, but you got my drift. I've seen videos of insanely fast Maximas but mostly a straight away/drag. A while back, I saw a video of a Max doing drifts rally-style. I forgot who's Maxima it was but I saw it in the org somewhere. Also, as an example, if a race-experienced person in a Maxima, races another person with equivalent racing skills in a "sports car", both V6, 5 speed, with race-tuned suspension and other similar mods, in a closed-circuit track, who do you think will win?

i'm with him after law school that first check is going towards either an m45 or an older nsx. but i change my mind on a daily basis so inside of that five years i might decide on another max.

I bought my car new in 96. Two sets of front brake pads, one set of rear. Two sets of tires. One battery, one set of belts, one set of spark plugs and one fuel filter. One expensive a$$ sunroof repair. Name another car that could give that service under my heavy right foot? Nissan Forever!!!
