RPM gauge acting weird..

Hey whats up guys... I was leaving school this morning and i noticed that my rpm guage was sitting at 500 while i was in second gear...well it stayed there through third too. Then as the car got warmer i noticed it moving upward, it got to 1500 by the time i got home. Then as i was coming to work, the same thing happened. I was on the freeway in 5th gear going about 65-70 and the RPM was at about 2200. It was slowly moving up... very slowly. It doesnt even move when i rev it in neutral. A few days ago i noticed it was sitting still at 1500 when i was in 3rd and all of a sudden it popped back to where it was supposed to be. has this happened to anyone else before? any ideas to what could be wrong? thanks.

cluster

our maximas are known for having bad clusters in general. My odometer and trip odometer only work in the mornings for some reason!!!

i have a similar problem and posted on it yesterday. i was told that the magnet that moves the tach is shot, and i need a whole new cluster. if anyone is selling them, post it or pm me or monty.

Mine was jumping between idle and 0 at an intersection while I had right turn indicator on. Jumped to the rate of the flasher. Weird. One time occurance. Hasn't done it since.
