Help with tree sap, tried everything

last week i noticed a rather long drip of tree sap on my front quarter panel, so far ive tried wd-40, clay bar and detail spray and also bug and tar remover. Ive heard gasoline can remove some things but im guessing wd-40 the same pretty much, Anyways im all out of ideas and its pissing me off. Any suggestions?

I think my older bro used some tar remover stuff.
You could look for that and try it.
I think that is what he gets all that kind of stuff off with: tar, sap, etc.

Tree sap in particular can be very tricky... try heating it up before you remove it to make it more viscous. Goo-gone is about the harshest thing I would use on paint, but letting it soak won't hurt.

i once had a good sized spot of it on my car and also tried everything. finally i asked my stepdad what he thought and he busted out a big flat razor blade, which scared me, but gently and slowly got it off without scratching my paint. after that i cleaned the residue off with bug n tar remover and then waxed it and that took care of it. if you're gonna try this, be very careful of course, but either way you do it, goodluck!

Forgot about this! People take off pin stripes like this too - just hold the blade at a 15-deg angle and nothing will happen to your paint.

Um... why not just use regular soap and water while you wash your car? Worked for me, I always get tree sap this time of year on my car.

Use de-solv-it...it's made to remove just about everything that sticks (adhesive, gum, grease, oil, lipstick, crayons, tar, oil)...and it is much less harsh than goo-gone. To tell you the truth though I'd go ahead with the razor blade suggestion and just be careful. Then use de-solv-it or a similar product to remove the residue, then after that wash the area and wax it

goo gone is some good stuff, helped me take off the residue left from removing my emblems and that residue is worse than any tree sap.

I got tree sap on my car as well. Hardened to an amber-like substance. (Jurassic Park anyone?) Only way to get that stuff off is to carefully scrape it off, after the car is cleaned and free of dust. I also found that putting slight pressure straight down with a tiny screwdriver or something, will cause it to crack and free itself from the surface of the car, then you are not actually touching the paint.

it was a warm spring day, i used a lot of elbow grease to get it off though, but when it all came off it left no residue.

why don't you freeze it?? use a can of air-dust, you know the stuff that suppose to clean ur keyboard or whatever with air. turn it upside down n it'll act like a fire extinguisher or something. if you spray it on someone, that person can get frostbite or what not. n then just crack it. cause isnt that how you're suppose to get gum off your clothes? freeze it first? oh, and wax your car after wards really well. it can make removing anything a lot easier in the long run with a good coat of nice wax.
