The short answer is "yes." I've seen a writeup for it before too, though not here on the org but I know some have done it. If I end up finding the link I'll let you know but chances are someone else will be able to direct you before I can. I have a really busy day with my sister's graduation but later tonight I'll try to find some info for you, or if you haven't tried already do a google search or something

Did it. Not that hard. Easiest way is to obtain the clearance light sockets from a 95-96; they are a direct fit. The 95-95 clearance lights lightly glow like 97-99 when the parking lights are on, but light up bright when the indicator was on, they're perfect for this application. The clearance light sockets are only pigtail connections to the main body harness, so you will not be cutting the main harness, only the pigtails. If you ever want to reverse it, just obtain stock 97-99 sockets and plug them back into the harness.

Remove the clearance light and unplug the sockets from the main harness. The harness connectors between the 1156 socket and the 1157 socket are different. Cut off the connectors from your old 1156 sockets from your 97-99 and the 1157 sockets you obtained from a 95-96. Solder the 1156 connector onto the 1157 sockets. You will need to tap into an indicator wire from the bumper lights for the third wire of the 1157 socket. Reconnect your modified socket to the harness, and install a 1157 amber bulb and you're done.

You will need to decide what to do with your bumper lights then. I wired the front bumber lense with the side bumper lense. The front normally indicates, and the side is just a marker light when your parking lights are on. Now they both are just parking lights. Basically reversed the roles. Bumper lights are now clear marker lights (parking lights) and the clearance light is now an amber marker light and an indicator light.

Hope this helps.
