b-pipe and exhaust system

ok the whole b-pipe topic and exhaust system topic has been brought up many a times.. but i do have one stupid question that i will most likely get flamed for... im lookin into the greddy sp2 exhaust system.. is a "b-pipe" part of the exhaust system or is the b-pipe a totally different thing that connects to the system..

B-pipe is the piece from the cat to the rear muffler.

if you get a y-pipe, should you get a high flow cat at the same time? does it matter? i heard it makes teh job way easier if you do both at the same time, but is it worth the extra money?

I'm planning on keeping my stock cat, but it's up to you (if you want to spend more money or not) http://maxmods.dyndns.org/index.php?...yticConverters

Since you're in IL, your cat bolts are probably rusted so if you can't get them off, you might have to go to an exhaust shop to have them torched off

Don't you read anything? lol

"MaximaCatbacks: Catback systems, consisting of a B-pipe and Muffler
MaximaBpipes: B-pipes, part between the catalytic converter and muffler
MaximaMufflers: Mufflers, after the B-pipe, also known as rear sections"

Aftermarket "High flow cat" = no gains, and it doesn't last as long as OEM.

Nonsense, high flow cats still filter the exhaust gasses just as well as the stock cats. Just faster. People with these on have said to still pass emmissions even in the most strict states.

The outer layer of the original muffler is rusted and peeling.

I have noticed that the outerlayer of the original muffler (never changed) is rusted and feeling off (dangling). It looks really ugly.

There is no rusted holes and the muffler is working without any unusual noise.

Is it time to replace it?
If not (since it is working), can I peel off the surface to make it look better?

for sake of argument. don't get mad or crazy like others on the org, nstalling a highflowcat means harder to pass smog. depending on waht state like u said anyways, i've seen highflowcats on other cars and bascailly its just a polluter, no gains and makes your rear bumper black

jus my thoughts.

Not true. I have emissions numbers from before and after getting full exhaust (with new high-flow cat). My numbers were almost exactly the same. Some gases were slightly lower, others slighly higher. Really, no significant difference.

NYC metro area has among the strictest emissions requirements in the country, too, and I was well below. Just like before the new exhaust and cat.

HOWEVER, you won't get any HP (not measurable anyway) from getting a high-flow cat.
