What kind of gas milage do you get when your knock sensor goes bad? I had autozone pull some codes for me the other day and one of them was for my knock sensor but i dont feel like i'm at a loss for power. I had a few other codes that i'll post in a bit. I'm getting about 20mpg city/highway mixed(mostly city). I read on some other thread that o2 sensor codes can sometimes set off a ks code and i know i have one of those going off. I also have about 50,400 miles.

If you get multiple codes and one of them is a KS code, fix the other stuff first and reset the CEL. After a week later, check the ECU again for the KS code (it's a ghost code so it won't turn on the CEL by itself) - other things (usually O2 sensors) set off the KS code...

if a knock sensor is bad, does just not work one day? or does it slowly die?

I just pulled the codes and 3 came up:

0304: Knock sensor
0901: Upstream o2 sensor right bank
0905: Crankshaft position sensor

The link in the sticky doesnt work for the 0905 code and I need to get my hands on a good multimeter to check out the ks and o2 sensor to make sure. Does anyone else have a 4 wire upstream o2 sensor? the sticky said it was 3 but mine has an extra for some reason. Is this another one of those cali spec things?

I think the knock sensor was bad in our old Maxima...somehow we didn't know it took premium fuel? Anyway, I was filling up twice a week and with my new Maxima (and premium fuel) I fill up about every 10 days. Big difference for me, but I'm not 100% sure the knock sensor was the only thing wrong.

since my KS has been broken, about 2 months now, ive been using 94 octane gas and i still have tons of pull and okay gas milage. i think its the higher gas octane and new plugs i put in. cant wait for my KS to get here for 79 bux! im goint to keep on using 94 and i should get good results even more.
also took my 100lb sub box out

0901 points to a heater fault in the O2 sensor, you'll have to replace the sensor. It's Bosh part # 13505, you can pick it up at www.oxygensensors.com.

0905 is crankshaft position sensor POS which is located under the car on the transmission bell housing, it looks at the flywheel. Are you experiancing hard starts?

After you replace those 2 sensors, clear the error codes and wait about a week then check and see if the KS code is still there. If it comes back, replace the KS as well.
