Gauge Needle coloring

Hey the gauge needles are clear on my 96 so I was wondering if a colored marker would make them show up that color at night when turned on. I do not want to do the ghetto rigged job, but I do not know what bulbs to get to replace the leds in the needles now. Any help or input welcome.

A colored marker will work for a few months but eventually fade from sun exposure.

Best thing to use is a transparent type paint for model cars, trains, planes, etc.

superbrightleds.com has tons of leds for that purpose. If they are clear, just replace the 5 largest bulbs in the back of the gauges with pushpin led bulbs like the ones in the doors. Ittle give it a bright whatever color you choose at night and also affects the look of the gauges.

Red marker after 3 months. Hasn't faded, nobody can tell. I just colored the top edge and left the sides clear.

You would need the 97 SE needles, GLE/GXE were clear.

good job with the needles, they look just like they are store bought, never would be able to tell you used marker to color them

While using a color marker will work, the effects will only last for about 6-7 months. After this time, the color will become faded so if you had red needles they will become pink. Here are some pics of my newly done gauges using 44 5mm LEDs to give you an idea of what your gauges can look like.

Damn...those look nice. They look really bright, bright white like the new Accords. Great job.

Thanks for the props wariow. Indeed, I am using PCB along w/ other methods since space is a premium behind/inside the gauges. Sorry, but I have no pics of the installed LEDs so it will have to remain as they say, "an ancient chinese secret."

Meanbean those look so hot...but im not mechanically inclined to do such a job like that. Props to those tho.

What 5largest bulbs do you mean....the ones that are in the center of the gauge assembly in the back. ALso what size are those to know what to order.

Wow one years worth of good color just from a marker. Not too bad.
