Suspension question
Only if they are lowering springs, because most of them just fit the length of the max strut travel or a bit less so there is no tension on the spring and they are easy to remove.
However the stock ones have quite a bit of tension on them because they are longer than the max strut travel and could cause quite a bit of damage (to you possibly) if you remove them under tension.
I picked up a pair of spring compressors for under $20 and have used them now about 10 times. Good investment.

if you plan on removing both the strut and the spring then you dont need one cuz they come out together as one piece. however if all you want to do is change the strut then you will need to get the stock spring on the new srut then yes you do. the springs have enought force stored in them to kill someone so in situations like these its better to take the safe route.

Yes you can pull the OEM springs off the rear shocks without a spring compressor. It's a little tough to get them back together, some muscle and weight can succesfully compress the OEM springs enough to get the assembly back together.
If your putting lowering, sport springs back on, then it'll be easy even without a compressor.
