driver side door lock problem and then some.
Ok guys i think i read up on this problem and it was a TSB but i dont know yet. I'll check morrow at school on alldata.
Anyways, the driver side door the maxima i want to buy is messed up. The door just doesn't lock no matter what you do. I don't think the door lock button on the inside is opening fully, its like stuck 1/2 way. and it wont go any further. When i put the lock button i hear a motor or something like its not working properly.
#1 how hard is this problem to fix, parts needed
#2 how much would it be at a dealership roughly
problem #2
I think the wheel bearing in the rear is in need of replacement. When driving at normal city speeds i dont hear much. But when i take it on the highway @60-75mph i hear a humming like sound. I know its from the rear and i cant tell if its on drivers or pass. side. But it happens when i get up to speeds of 60 with the windows closed. I think there is a small chance that it might just be wind noise then. Since i think if its a wheel bearing then it would make a noise at any given speed.
Do i need any special tools to do this repair?

i hate to jump on the post bandwagon, but i have a similar problem...
when i bought my car i discovered that the previous owner was an idiot and broke off not one, but two keys, inside both the driver side door and the trunk locks. has anyone ever taken them apart?? im going to put on keyless entry to temporarily fix the problem. but its still frustrating to not be able to unlock the drivers side door. any help for either of us would be nice

^ I guess you have to replace the lock cylinders a little pointless if you ask me. Because if you to that means you might need 2 keys, 1 key to work you driver's and trunk and the other to use the glovebox and pass.
if i was in your shoes i would just get the keyless entry and be done with it. I mean you can always open your pass. side with key and unlock all doors. Be happy that you know what is the problem with you car =P
I have no idea whats going on with this max

Ok so i was thinking about this issue a lot during school today and i came to a possiblity, since i only hear the noise at 60mph+ it shouldn't reallly be a wheel bearing. I'm going to target the tires. Maybe i'm looking at this completely wrong as well but this is what i think i was hoping for someone to guide me along the way.
As for my door lock, I was looking at wiring diagrams and what not. And when i mention earlier about hearing the door lock motor/soleniod i looked at it there seems to be a " door unlock sensor" in the area of where i heard the sound from. So i assume that, thats the problem. but then again i have no experience with nissan things So i wouldn;t know where to really look. any help would be great full tho, thanks a lot

Sounds like a door lock actuator gone bad or one of the rods inside the door is bent/poped out.
Make sure the wheels are not bent, out of round wheel can make some NASTY noises- tire will take the shape of the bent wheel sooner or later and this will cause some bad noise.
