Need Seat belt help

I thought I read somewhere in here about a problem with the seatbelt in our Max's. Somthing about dirt on the belt not allowing it to retract. My driver side doesn't want to retract all that well. which was a bad thing becasue the other day I shut the door and didn't realize that the seatbelt fastener was still in the doors path. Now i have a nice gouge out if my door panel. Anyone know how I can fix that as well??

I have the same problem as well. My idea is that it could be the actual seatbelt mechanism. That's why I've been putting off fixing it. I would assume that might be expensive.

if there is anything wrong with your seat belts, nissan has a lifetime warranty on seatbelts. they will fix it for free.

I had this happen to my old Audi. What happened there was that the belts behind the b-pillar panel were not put back togeather right after a repair. Check the way the seatbelts are moving inside the b-pillar panel. Most likely they are cought up somewhere. Probably squeezing against something.

There is actually a kit you can get to solve this problem. I dont know if it is still available, but I saw an official Nissan instruction tutorial they give the mechanics on how to deal with the problem. If anyonw has the link to this it would be great. Basically there is just some gunk that gets built up at the top of the belt where it slides throught the plastic slit. You should be able to clean it off with a paper clip or something. THere is a kit that the dealership can use where they put a piece of plastic over the platic where the belt slides through so that the gunk doesnt build up again. There is nothing wrong with the belt, it is just the gunk keeping it from retracting properly. Try cleaning it out.

EDIT: Just found the link under the Stickies under Technical Service Bulletins for Interior Problems.

I just tried the procceedure Dstyle suggested, but I used dental floss instead of that kit to save money. It worked wonders!
