Some exhaust advice needed

Well I am going to get a budget ss y-pipe, then I am going to get a whole custom catback. Now I am trying to go on ebay and find an exhaust that is the most quietest, does anyone have any suggestion on which exhaust has the most quiet sound besides the stock ones? Next thing is that when I get a y-pipe, does that mean I won't be using the catalyic converter anymore or would I still have to use it?

There are 2 cats in the maxima. The Y-pipe gets rid of the first one which only cleans the emissions when the car is cold. The second one is for the rest of the time. The y-pipe does not get rid of that, you have to replace it with a more performance oriented one.

There are 3 cats in a Maxima. 2 pre-cats (one from each header/bank of cylinders) The y-pipe will get rid of these. Then after the y-pipe there is another cat. It is true that after the car warms up, the two precats have little to no effect on the emissions of the vehicle. Therefore, the cat after the y-pipe is necessary all the time. Replacing it with a performance/straight pipe or high flow cat will do little to increase performance and will only be $$ and a polutant.

I have stock exhaust apart from my stainless steel Budget y-pipe as I'm not into noise. I think a lot of .orgers go with Magnaflow mufflers. I suspect the majority of aftermarket mufflers are louder than OEM and don't last as long.

Be careful what you wish for in terms of noise. You don't want your car sounding like a f@rt can rice machine!

Well i was looking on ebay and they have a greddy style one, and i want to know if that is like the SP2 style because I know its nice and quiet. And I am looking for a exhaust that has a deep tone and only gets loud when it goes WOT, not those rice boys with civics when they are coming down the street and they are only going 10 miles but u can hear them from 5 blocks away.
