Carsound and Magnaflow are reputable brands that carry high-flow cats. I have heard a few people tell stories about how their Magnaflow died after only 2-3 months. Of course, they sell so many that those might just have been isolated incidences.

Both should work well. Just make sure they are rated to meet your state's emissions standards. When I installed y-pipe, b-pipe, muffler, and high-flow cat I saw that my next year's emissions were almost the same as the year before. Marginally lower in some categories, marginally higher in others. All well below the strict NYC area emissions requirements. Only CA and a few metro areas, like NYC, have such stringent emissions, so if my car passed with a Carsound hi-flow cat (from Warpspeed) I'm guessing you will be good to go, too.

Hope that's helpful.

Someone had a whole huge thread about this about 2 weeks ago. The debate was whether the Budget Cat would meet U.S. emissions standards. Some people have the budget Cat and haven't had problems, but none of those people lived in NYC or in California where emissions tests are the most stringent.

It's probably fine, but if I lived in California (as you appear to) I would probably buy from someplace in your home state...

I have a Budget HighFlow Cat. I love it. I didn't go in for emmissions yet...

unless your stock cat is bad and you need a new one, there is NO reason to buy a new one because they do absolutely NOTHING except make your exhaust smell bad. i have a warpspeed hiflow. but the only reason i bought that was because my stocker was bad and i need a cheap working replacement.

It's true. The high-speed cat will show no measurable performance gain versus the stock cat. Maybe there is half-of-one-HP there, MAYBE, but you'd never be able to measure it or feel it.

But, if it makes you feel better to have a high-flow cat to go with an all new exhaust, well, it's not like it's that much money. I've seen people on this board blow a lot more money on things that are much more worthless than the cat. As long as you know that it's not a huge HP gainer and are okay with that.

I got my high-flow cat when I replaced my entire exhaust (y-pipe, b-pipe, muffler) just because it was insanely cheap with the group deal (around $80) and it gives a nice "placebo effect" of making you feel like your car is breathing 100% freely. Your choice.
