Home 2,000 Miles Later, and I have my New Max!! PICS

So i just got home from driving my new maxima from San Jose, California to Vermillion, SD. Just me and my dad out on the road, and the trip was awesome! People think i was kinda crazy for going out and buying a maxima in Cali and driving it back, but it was soo worth it. I don't know how active he is on the org now, but i bought it from SLOMaxima. Its a 1997 5spd with numerous mods. Coilovers, STS, Ypipe, Intake etc. It sounds like such a beast.

We left San Jose around Midnight thursday night and made it to Las Vegas in the morning. From there we went through Utah and then Colorado which was my favorite part of the trip. Curvy roads through montains and tunnels and taking in the Rocky's in my new max. I love how the coilovers handled on the freeway, we took some brutal bumps but other than that its very smooth and handled awesome in the curves at 90+.

We stayed at a friends in Denver, then headed out in the morning on sat. We made it home sat night. Total driving time was 26 hours.

Here's some of the max on the trip and some of the Scenic Drive.

I think a stop in cali or outside Nevada.

Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas

Roads in Utah (One of my favorite Pics)

Evergreen, Colorado

Rockies

I hope you enjoyed the pics. I have some videos of going through some tunels and mountains if anyone wants to host them for me. I'll have new pics of the max as well as i start getting some minors things done. The trip was definately worth the max, and the scenery as well!

Looks like a real fun time. When I got my car, my tranny started leaking when I got home from the one hour trip. Needless to say, through all my troubles with having the dealer I bought my car from try to find a good tranny (they put in 4 before they found a good one), I really hadn't driven my car for a good month or two.

That looks a lot like 1fstmax's car without his rims, which he just transferred to his new Black 1999 Maxima. Did you buy it off him?

Congrats on the new ride!! Pics are awesome. I went from Atlanta to Mississippi on the Greyhound to pick up my 5speed. I know the feeling when you set out on the return trip home. Enjoy!!!

good buy man.

i also went out to san jose, CA to buy my 91 sentra se-r. i drove it all the back to chicago. people thought i was crazy too for going all the way to california for a car, escpecially a 14 yr old sentra. but like you said, it was hard to find one out here especially with no rust. great pictures by the way. i will have to post mine even though there are not as good as yours.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Yeah, 96stillenmax, it's my desktop background too

I'm sure i did not buy it from 1fstmax. The guy i bought it from now has a 96 cobra. heh, but a very nice one. He did a very good job on his maxima. I'm redoing the tint this weekend and debadging it and i'll take a few more pics of car; even though it doesn't look much different from any other lightly modded max. But once i get some 18's it's going to look amazing with the drop.

This guy is from San Jose and goes to school at San Louis Obispo. He must have taken the plate from that guys name. It's not the same guy (1fstmax). But it is kind of a weird coincidence.

Chip: Yes, in the pictures the paint looks a little off. That's just because the bumper is the plastic material painted on than the actual body paint. you don't notice this in person, but it pictures it makes it show.

Max2k2: Not sure what % tint it is. I'm redoing the tint since it is legal in SD to have fronts tinted. I will probably do 15% back and 30% front.

Why did you go from San Jose to Las Vegas? I suspect you didn't stay there very long and you were headed in the wrong direction - south then back north!

Edit - I see on the map now. If you went north and through Salt Lake you would ultimately have had to head south a ways to get to Denver.

Looks good. Congrats on the car...and the trip must have been fun as hell...great pics. I have to say tho...the seats covers need to go from what I see, but other than that...letting the modding begin!

LOL, I only drove 1000 miles to get my Maxima! Flew down, then drove it back. Now it seems like nothing...looks like you had an awesome trip, plus the car is already modded which saves you some work. Gorgeous scenery...my drive was pretty boring - 1000 miles won't even get you across the province of Ontario. I live in the middle of nowhere so all I saw were trees and dumpy little northern towns. Wasn't nice until we hit Lake Superior.

Travelling is definitely worth it to buy a nicer car for a better price. Good decision and a really nice Maxima! What are your plans for future mods?

im in san jose, how come i have never seen this car? i rarely see many modified maximas in san jose, the only ones i see often are nadir_s (nadir) and krzymax (vinh). nobody will probabaly notice mine, unless you see it from the front and see the cefiro lights

good buy on the maxima, i guess it was really worth it to you to get a maxima from far away.
