Serious Car Problems :(
#1
I just bought a starter today and installed it. My car is running pretty hot on idle. It idles around 900 rpm in park and neutral. When I step on the gas and rev the engine up to 2500 the car gets real rough and shaky. If i try to go higher it will cut off. I took it out on the road and was able to drive, but I had to drive slow enough not to rev up to 2500. I checked my engine check codes and got this:
0504 auto trann control signal to ecu
0102 mass air flow sensor
0304 knock sensor
0504 auto trann control signal to ecu
0102 mass air flow sensor
0304 knock sensor

The 0102 Mass Air Flow Sensor is the most urgent of these three codes. The MAFS is located just downstream of the air filter. You removed some or all of the air intake ductwork in the course of your starter replacement job. Please verify that you have securely fastened the connector to the MAFS. Then reset the Engine Control Module and drive the car normally. Let's hope that is all you need to restore your Maxima to good running condition.

I love my smooth driving Maxima. I had to drive a civic for a week until my car was up and running again. It felt so good to step on the gas.

I know what you mean. When my car was having bodywork done, my rental was an Altima. Boy was I glad to get back into my Max.

How about this emax, driving a 4 banger camry for a week, then driving a POS Lumina for another week. Boy was that hell.
