fuel pump or regulator???

I experienced some problems (hesitations at low rpm and lack of performance) and the last time it was the MAF....in fact, I tought the coilpacks or the MAF was in trouble again....the mechanic told me that maybe my fuel pump or my fuel regulator are probably doing some freegames sometimes wich could explain the intermittent lack of power..??!! anyone has experienced something like that??

please help!

If you are trying to diagnose fuel line problems, you really should buy a fuel pressure gauge and see what the line pressure is. You should not just swap in/out parts without it. Neither the fuel pump nor the FPR is that cheap.

Bad coilpacks results in misfiring and you should definitely be able to feel the rough idle and lack of power from it. It may not immediately trigger the CEL but ultimately should (with repeated episodes). Your exhaust tone will take on a more random gurgle rather than smooth consistency.

MAF problems can be quite varied. If you replaced yours, I can't imagine the replacement suffering the same fate unless you use a K&N that was oiled to heavily or something like that. I would say MAF is less likely but still possible.

Well, what was the result of the dealer's tests and repair? Try and post back after a problem has been solved if possible......

same exact problem i have, lack of performance in low rpms, like when i try to pass people or really accelerate quickly, it wont let me do it sometimes and the car buckles back and front and it accelerates but it feels like its not getting enough power, but this happens when im below half a tank of gas, if i have a full tank of gas it performs like my friend's maxima, no problems, so my mechanic first thought it was the injectors or fuel filter, got injector cleaner and changed fuel filter, im going tomorow to get this car tested for sure of what it is and then get that pressure test done but he also thinks its the fuel pump, but from what i've read around different places is that the fuel pump takes a lot to get messed up, and in most cases its actually just the fuel pressure regulator thats not working properly rather than the pump having to be replaced, and besides, that fuel pump is a couple of hundred or so, so im hoping it is just the regulator and the problem's solved but we'll see, ill have results after tomorow... and believe me, this f*kin problem is annoying at times when i need the performance to be there, and its not, thats the worst feeling of frustration, i've been dealing with this problem for 2 months now, it sucks

Shame on you, letting your plugs go 136K.

Since you got the car at 132k miles you should do everything possible to bring the engine back to original factory conditions especially if you don't know the previous car maintenance history. This would include changing all your fluids, fliters, spark plugs, cleaning throttle body, etc.

yea i know dude, believe me, im not a dummy, obviously those things have to be done, but i been changin other things in relation to what i though the problem was and by the time i fixed it and it was ruled out that it was the spark plugs, many of the things were replaced as is, the thing is, when inspected by 2 different mechanics, neither one said i need anything replaced for maintanenance, the dude before me did mostly everything, he just forgot spark plugs and it took a while to figure out that they were bad, but its all done and fixed, thank you for your concern tho sir

Same thing but now I'm in more trouble

I had the same problem hesitating when I was idling and the acceleration was slow. The car eventually started shaking a lot when idling and I took it to the dealer and they told me it was a bad injector (cost me $120 just for the analysis). I decided to replace just the one injector since I didn’t have the money for everything, the car still was rough. So I decided to change the other two front injectors myself . Bad idea on my part . It looked easy enough, take the fuse out for the fuel pump run it for a bit till it stalled and detach the injector plugs then take the injector out. Well I decide not to detach the fuel rail and now my car won't start after I replaced the injectors and I see some fuel dripping under my car. I have no idea what to do. The car feels like it’s gonna to explode when I try starting it? Anyone know what the hell is going on?

If the dealer said they fixed the injector and the car still ran rough, why did you not take it back asap and complain and get it documented?
Now, you messed with it the dealer will say "too-bad so sad".

injector

No, I guess I didnt state it correctly, I didnt get the work done from the dealer because he wanted to charge me $1500 for all six injectors, so I just took it to a mechanic and told him to change one injector and I told him which injector to change from the nissian report. Thought I would save some money which only changing one injector at this time.

OK, 1500 for all 6 injectors....ouch. Did you install NEW cushion rings and IIRC the 2 other seal/o-rings with each injector?

injector

Yeah I installed new both upper and lower cushion rings; I only got one o-ring though, the larger one. I took the old injector out, and that as well only had one o-ring. I got all the parts from autowarehouse.com and the only sold me the one o-ring and said they didn’t have the smaller o-ring? I think when I took the old injector out I should of removed the fuel rail, and since I didn’t do that I might have ruptured something else since it was such a b*^ch taking it out.

blled pin

Hey, I have a '95 maxima would anyone know if there is a bleed pin for the fuel rail. I might have air in the line from the previous post and I am trying to purge the fuel line if there is any air there. Thought it might be worth a try.
