Keyless entry reprogramming questions.

Hey everyone, I'll get straight to the point.

I ordered a keyless entry fob for my maxima, 1998 maxima SE 5-speed fully loaded with leather, bose, sunroof. I read the sticky, and followed the directions perfectly, removed the key 6 times, let the hazard blink, put the key in and ignition at ACC, then press the lock button on the remote, but no response from the car.

Is there something I did wrong? Also, after all this, I'm question if the option was ever on my car, or if a fuse might be blown, but then i thought if the fuse or if the keyless entry option was messed up in any way, would i be able to go through with the first couple steps?

The keyless entry FCC ID is A269ZUA078 ISC 700 K1359

I changed the battery in the remote aswell with the working battery from my 2000 maximas keyless entry fob. Please help.

edit - corrected the incorrect FCC ID, typo .

I think before you even start the key sex you: get in, close the door. lock all doors with the lock button . . . then go with the key, youll get hazards, turn to ACC, press lock button on key fob, you should get hazards again

FCC ID doesn't matter.

Ok it works, apparently you have to press the lock AND unlock button after you put key into ACC (update the sticky?). Now, its press nifty with the window roll down when you hold unluck. The thing is, I'm not too sure, but does the 4th gens have the ability to beep when you lock the car? Also my panic button doesn't work. The lock, unlock, window roll down, and trunk functions all work fine, but the panic doesn't seem to work.

Next up, is there a beep-on-lock tpye thing, like on my 5th gen, when you press lock, the car locks and also the horn chirps. And also what's up with the panic feature not working?

1. Check the the stickies or vqpower.com - there is a quick mod to add a buzzer for the alarm
2. Are you keeping the panic button "pressed" for a few seconds - the car horn should sound if you do - you have to keep the button pressed (make sure your car horn works of course). If the horn works *from the steering wheel*, but the panic still doesn't work when you try what I described above, you might have a bad panic button on the remote - get another remote, program that and see if the panic button works.

I bought a remote for my 97 years ago. I go through all the programming steps. The hazards blink then nothing. No button works on the car. I've tried pressing the unlock button after the lock, manually unlocking the car, turning the key back to the off position...nothing works. Any suggestions?

Did you make sure there is a working battery in the remote?

I did way back when, but not recently. I figured if the hazards were blinking it had juice left in it.

The hazards blink when you lock the car? or the hazards blink when you follow the remote programming instructions? i.e. do the hazards ever blink when you press a button on the remote (either while using or programming it)?

While following the programming instructions, the hazzards blink when it gets to the point of pressing the lock button on the remote.

Interesting... sounds like it should work - do the procedure again based on the link gtr just posted and see if you can get it to work.

Thanks for the link, but still no go. It's the same programming procedure I've used many times with no success. I went outside anyway and tried again following it to the letter....hoping maybe just this once it would work...my hope has been squashed yet again.

Unplug the Keyless Entry unit in the trunk, then plug it back in. There are two plugs actually. Then do the programming steps over again, if the remotes don't work right away.

On the right side, to the left of the jack, behind the plastic wall. Just peel down the wall a little bit to access it.

speaking of opening the window with the remote.
it`s funny how when i brought my maxima the first owner told me "there is a problem with the remote, if you hold the unlock button for too long the windows will roll down" (and she`s had the car for 10 years)

The person I bought it from said, "Yea, and uuum I don't know why it does this? But if you hold the button down the windows go down." He had it for 2 years and didn't find out until a month before he sold it to me. Pretty funny!

uh, my supermarket sells it. and if you're in montclair, i'm sure there's a pathmark or something there. the number is 2025. no need to go to a jeweler cause they prob won't have it. radio shack, staples, walmart, pathmark, shop rite, or A&P will have it. just look where they have the batteries. its usually like 2 to 3 bucks
