Car overheating, please read.

changed my thermostat thinking it was it. cause it kinda made sense too. but then realized it was the radiator, it had the most tiny crazk in the weridest spot which was unoticable and undetectable with the pressure tester i used.

coolant mixture is 60coolant/40water (was told it would run a bit cooler and is safe)maybe its not?

anyhow, i changed the radiator and thermostat. now when i take off redlining gears --OR-- when i down shift and go from a roll, the temperature rise's. and it rises fast to about 3/4 of guage maybe a bit more. but on regular day-to-day driving its fine, and only goes up by maybe 2mm above regular at the most. and its dropping speed 12st is kinda fast, but slows down towards end, and stays a bit over middle. can this be some temperature sensor going bad? some relay? fans kicking on wrong time? i have no idea, not enough knowledge. any ideas, please post. andthing else you need to know pls ask.

thansk,

rafal

the coolant temp sensor throws a code when fautly, do u have a cel?

tip: if your overheadting turning on the manual heat at the highest setting will help cool down the engine, just wind the windows down so you dont overheat yourself.

If nothing else, you can wire your cooling fans to be manually controlled. People use this for track use to cool down their cars. Maybe it could help.

Maybe you have some air left in the cooling system from your radiator swap...

I don't know if you picked up on this (and i am not suggesting this is your problem) but antifreeze actually decreases your cooling ability (lower heat capacity of antifreeze), all it does is raise your boiling point and lower your freezing point. A 50/50 mixture is reccomended. I just changed mine and used 25/75 and a bottle of water wetter.

I would do the easiest first..
-rebleed to make sure no air is trapped..quick way remove radiator cap, turn on car, push down on front end a bit,top off with water.
(I would use 50/50 or 60/40 water/coolant mix)
-check radiator cap underline rubber should be flexable, if its hard, cracking, replace it

Hes correct a 60-40 mix will decrease cooling ability, However i wouldnt reccomend water wetter, it can cause a sludge like product.
