ECU pricing?

Curious as to how much people have spent on a ECU pulled from cars at the yard. Seems the pricing ive been getting is in the 175-250 range. Dealership price - lol dont ask, $700+. So obviously im going to have to find a '96 ECU somewhere around me. Ive been on the phone with about 30 different import and domestic salvage yards today with no luck so far. Im searching for a '96 manual tranny ECU. I seem to remember people saying its difficult to find these nowadays. Im finding that to be very true. If anyone knows of one or where to get one in your travels PM me.

I suppose your looking for a spare ECU for an ECU upgrade? The easiest way save the hassle of buying a spare, sending in the ECU and waiting for it to be returned, try to look for someone selling an already modified ECU like I did. I got my TS ecu for 400 bux.

I disagree, that's not the easiest way. It may be the best way because you save a little money and downtime, but it's definately not the easiest, in fact, it's probably the most difficult ...

I paid $90 for my 96 manual ecu from zack342. He really gave me a good price on it... That thing is worth its weight in gold.

installing and reinstalling is kind of difficult because the bolts you need to take off to actually remove the ECU are hard to get to, in my case, i took out the stereo and air controls to reach the screws, way easier to access the screws, also taking the ECU out after the screws are out is kind of difficult because there is a metal clip behind the ECU that you have to unhinge and the ECU doesnt move around much, so its somewhat of a pain to take off, but once you get everything out and attach the support bracket to the new ECU, i recommend cutting off the metal clip that hinges it in the back, its really useless because the screws do fine holding the ECU in place.
