Speedometer
My odometer and tripometer stopped working on my speedometer. The miles per hour is still working. Does that mean the speedo is bad in the cluster? Can these be repaired or do you just have to purchase a new one. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Also if one has to buy a new one, how do you set your current mileage or does Nissan have to do it for you?

I think the cluster would be bad....95% positive everything is run off of the same electronic input. You can get a cluster yourself but I don't believe you can set the mileage, you have to have the factory do it. It's probably best to get the correct mileage set so you don't later face problems with selling it, ect. But hey, you can have one hell of a buy for someone 2 years down the road if it continues not to work. lol

I have the same exact problem. My odometer and trip od only work in the morning.. lol.. we are better off buying a new used cluster w/ almost the same mileage.. a brand new one, set to you exact mileage is about 175!!! way too much!!!

do you have digital odo/trip? (98/99 max).. if so, then you may be able to fix it by taking it apart. directions are int he stickies to get your guage cluster out. Once out, look at the ribbon strip directly above the speedo gauge. Im pretty certain that powers the digital odo/trip, make sure its plugged in fully, i dont know how it would unplug itself, but you never know.. worth a shot..
oh and if you buy a new cluster, there is a way to set the mileage, but i think you can only go forwards. you have to hook it up to some machine for many, many hours depending on how far off the mileage is... Joe, or 98BlackMaxSE has done it successfully more than once.
