LEDS in gauges help

I need some help from my 4th gen brothers....figure yall might know something 5th gen guys dont.
Ok,now that i know my 01 gauges have needles that cannot be sanded down to clear, would it be difficult to remove the needles from a '98 gauge cluster, put the '98 needles (sanded so they are clear) on my '01 gauge cluster, then do the LED mod to my '01 gauges???

OR, would you do the entire mod to the '98 cluster, then take out the 01 gauges and replace the entire gauge housing/unit. Are they interchangable like that?? pull out the 01 joint, plug in the '98

Take the needles off the 4th gen and install them onto a 5th gen.

(thats the closest i have to a Butthead smiley)

you calibrate the needles prior to removal, then put them back on in the same position.

i also wouldn't recommend removing the needles as well, it's risky and it might not ever be the same again. Click on sig for homepage

Actually is it easy on 98+. You push the reset button 3 times after holding it down while you turn hte key to ACC position(something like that) and all the needles are pointed to 9 o'clock.

Kevlo911, do you have exact specifics for this recalibration process? Perhaps a FSM page reference? I was looking for something like this way back in the day but could never find anything and this is the first I have heard of this process.

To calibrate, do the following:
(i) Place your key in the ignition and hold in the odometer button.
(ii) Turn the electrical system on while holding the button in.
(iii) Release the button and wait one second.
(iv) Press the button three times. On the third press, HOLD THE BUTTON IN. If the digital readout reads '8' across the board, you are in luck. Otherwise, remove the key and repeat STEPS 9i - 9iii.
(v) You are now in calibration mode. Record where the needles lie. You can hold the button in for as long as you wish to take measurements.

Nice attitude you have there instil. I'm sure that will get the people lining up to help you. FYI, you should have your eyes checked as the car is on and at idle and normal operating temp.
