cool. i guess 8" it is. all the parts costed me about $350 for the 97 lights, TSX projectors, Ballasts, and bulbs. range covers cost about $2 each. i cut the back portion of the light off and attached a flat metal plate there. drilled and cut holes to fit the projectors thru. the projectors are mounted with 3 bolts each with a spring around the bolts. up/down and left/right adjustment of the projectors themselves are made thru twisting the 2 of the 3 wing nuts in the back. the chrome housing is also painted graphite. the lights are almost done. i'd still need to go out with them in the car to aim. then re-attach the front lens. also still have to think of a way to seal up the back.

the ccfl ring is real bright, especially compared to other angel eyes using LEDs. and the range cover is very reflective, making it appear even brighter.

don't get me wrong i'm not complaining. its great because they're bright! here's a picture of the CCFL compared to the homemade angel eyes using 2 LEDs. the leds are 5,000 or 10,000 MCD. i can't remember which. the CCFL is suppose to be 40,000 MCD i think

Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp. they're real bright and the entire ring lights up, unlike the LED angel eyes where only ends light up.

Nice looking retro, I love it

Would anyone know if I can bake my headlights with projectors inside of them. I have E46 bixenons. I don't want them to overheat and brake.I need to open them up to clean lenses.
So has anybody done it?

i don't think it'll matter. the hid bulb burns hotter than the oven temp. that you bake in.

First of all, go with the 8" ones. Secondly, it would be really creative and unique. Instead of picking only one type of lights, you could put both ccfl and the angel eyes on your headlights like you have on your test fit post. Then you could mount a switch to chose which one you want to have on. Personally, I like both so you could get the best of both worlds. Like I said, I haven't seen it done before...very different.

thanks for all the kind words. the process is fairly simple, just a bit time consuming. take a look at hidplanet.com/forums, there's plenty of writeups there already. although they're for other cars, the concept and steps are the same. i'd try to write something up when i'm finally done with these.
