Makes no sense to me. Is your CEL lit? Do they actually measure emissions in CA anymore for OBD-II compliant cars?

The easiest fix is to put back the stock intake, go pass the smog check and put your CAI back on.

What is a carb#? Did you demand further explanation? Your car is fuel injected.

a CARB number is a number that the manufacturer is supposed to get, so that it will be legal in california. it just means that the modification will still leave the cars emissions within limits. the only way to get it is from the manufacturer, and if i remember it is a sticker that has to be attached to the part.

Thank you. That make sense. The CARB must be an acronym and has nothing to do with being a carb, which is the typical term for a carbuteror. Remember them, lol!

i would try to call the manufacturer first, and see if they have a sticker available, i know on my matrix i had an aem cai, and i bought it before it was CARB approved, and they were willing to send a sticker, never got it but they were sending them out. unless you need the smog done right away then yeah put on the stock one, or ask people you know if there is a smog place that will pass it like that.

CARB stands for California Air Resource Board. I guess they're the ones that make up all these strict regulations, making it hard on all the maxima guys!

I idle around 700. But I know of people on this forum that have purposely bumped their idle speed up to about 900 and had no problems. If the engine sounds like its okay, it probably is. Besides, won't you be putting the CAI on again anyway? Good luck. Cali is biatch with emissions. Damn. I thought NY was bad. We have strict emissions tests, but they only test what comes out of the car, not every dam part on it to see if it's stock or certified "carb"!

They absolutely do not want to bother with CARB certification. Most performance mods are "For Offroad Use Only" for a reason. You best put the stock intake back on (as much of a pain that that is).
