Are headers worth it?

Ive been interested in possibly getting headers for some time now but first i would like people opinion as to whether they are worth it or not. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

If you want to pay over $600 more (PLUS installation if you're not doing it yourself) for a sound and maybe a couple extra hp over a y-pipe, then go ahead.
A y-pipe makes up most of the headers power gains, and can be purchased seperately for about $200. Unless you are planning on supercharging, there is no need to spend that kind of money for a couple extra hp.

For an NA VQ30, No. VQ35 seems to get a lot more Hp out of it. Boosted I would just get a 3" exhaust. The stock manifolds are not terribly restrictive and without long tubes there are just not enough gains.

Some believe they are worth it. I can't justify spending that kind of money on such little gain.

No. Not worth it at all. Just get a ypipe and save the extra money for an ECU.

sound and looks is what you get, power over a good ypipe is just not there for the vq30de. great sound, gains over a ypipe are weak.

yea but have you ALSO driven a 4th gen with just a y-pipe to feel for yourself the difference in performance?

Your opinion is biased.

no it's not worth it unless u really wanna get every horsepower that's available. headers are just simply on the expensive side where you can save few more $$ for FI (force induction) setup...

if u want to extract all the hp out of ur car then headers are the way to go. but once u buy headers u kinda only have a s/c as your only f/i route. i think lawloy is right about people bring scared of the install time
