P0440 Evap Emission Control system
#2
My suggestion is to take it to the stealership or a trusted mechanic. It could be your vent control valve. Evap problems are sort of hard to diagnose IMO and when i had my vent control valve replaced at the stealer it was only just over a hundred dollars to fix. No more CEL and no more worries. Although, it shouldn't affect the way the car is running, or at least it didn't on mine. Funny thing you mention this. My camry is in the shop for a CEL right now that is related to the EVAP system. First problem I have ever had with the toyota and it is a 99 with 95K on it now. I wish my maxima was half as reliable as that car lol.

The vent control valve, which was my busted part, is located behind the driver's side rear wheel. But, I had like three codes. If something in the EVAP system isn't working properly, you can get multiple codes. I wasn't just going to start swapping parts. I do plugs/filters/fluid changes and thats pretty much it. The evap system is kind of complicated for me so I chose the stealership. Good luck.
