Air gun, sockets: 19mm, 17mm, 14mm,12mm, and 10mm(if you have the abs stuff). An adjustable wrench, jack, and stands, and a hammer.

to bang out the strut botls.

read the how to's on suspension install, its exactly the same for coil overs, except (assuming your come already pre assembled) you just have to take out stock strut assembly and install the D2s.

There is not a write up from me because it is straight foward. Maybe you can do a write up after you do yours. You drop the old stuff out and put the coilovers in. Just make sure the spring has some load on it before you put it in then just adjust the height. The hammer can be use for persuasion.

Preload on the spring is crucial. I learned that the hard way. Make sure you tighten everything really snug.

accually if you do it right you will not need a hammer to hammer the strut bolts out with. i have installed and unintalled my own supension numerous times along with other org members an never once did i use a hammer to hammer the strut bolt out. if everything is lined up correctly the bolts will slid in and out with ease.

Adjust the spring perch up so that there are some tension so the spring doesn't rattle around. It's to prevent spring to be seated wrong when you hit a bump or jacking the car up.

You'll never need a hammer unless you have a jack under the LCA. But really, why?? Having the jack under the LCA, makes it harder for the strut to come out. W/o the jack there, you can push down on the LCA to give some room for the strut to move down from under the shock towers and out of the wheel well. When putting the 2 lower bolts for the struts, just pull up on the LCA a bit and the bolts will slide right thru the holes.

you can do it that way then just measure how much more drop you want with a tape measure then adjust the coilover accordingly. I just took a guess at it first. This may help to get you started....on mine I have a 2.25" gap between the top and bottom locking nut, I have a skyline kit and 19s, this gave me about a 1 finger drop all the way around. I just helped UNCDood with his and we went down to 1.75" (when I say this this is the distance between the locking nuts, not the drop of the car) in the rear, he is on 17s with no kit, you can barley get one finger in the wheel well. You will just have to find out what works for you.

*also I know the install can be done with out a hammer....I normally do not use a hammer but it is nice to have one around*

Do the rear together, and then the front together. Jack the rear beam and put it on stands then use the jack to make adjustments to get the 17mm bolt back into the rear. Jack the front on the cross member and set the front on stands....its straight foward. Do fronts and rears together, do not do side by side. Get some PB blaster and you should be ok (you will proabably not need it but just to be on the safe side)

where did you get the idea that preloading eliminates noise? I'm running completely gasket-less...all my stock D2 gaskets have slowly ripped apart cuz they are so flimsy and ghey...so I just tore them apart and now run completely gasket-less..haven't ran into a single problem at all...it makes absolutely NO NOISE during daily driving...the only times it makes noise is when I make u-turns at very low speeds...but thats due to the pillow ball mounts...and every D2 owner has this problem IIRC....

okay...okay...for the last time.i DID take out a tc...i RAN with a type S and that 05-s...i never said i wanted to beat it I KNOW MY CAR ISNT FAST ENOUGH TO BEAT A NEW TYPE S! i even told Tim that..i just wanted to have one last run before graduation...i knew i wasnt gonna beat it...and one of the few reasons why i thought my car was a lot faster than it was was because you told me stuff like "dont worry about it, just get your ks fixed and regain your title"..."i took out a tc before" "i kept up with a type s" and "im racing tims 05 today"...last time i checked that wasnt talking ****....

about the coilovers...you said they make noises when its cold...and you said that ksports were like the same thing as d2s...http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.ph...3&postcount=23
that foo installed ksports and are not getting noises...supposedly because he preloaded the springs.

and my thread about the quaker state...what is my every thread supposed to have a deep meaning to it??geeze...i wanted to try out a product and share my feelings about it afterwards.simple as that.it was not meaningless.

am i not supposed to get the idea that u dont like me after statements like "dont come up to me unless its educated"...wtf...just cause u know more doesnt make u a better person than me...nor does it mean u can put me down like that...

my springs are preloaded if u don't know already...and i am using top element's D2 settings...TE and Larrio did 12hrs of test & tuning to get a nice sweet ride for the D2s...they are making NO NOISES during daily...and the only time I do make noise is when I lock out the steering wheel...i confirmed it with TE and a few others who work on coilovers alot...they say coilovers will make noise...not everything is 100% sound free

I dunno about you...but

1. you posted the topic in the wrong forum
2. it had no meaning to it what-so-ever
3. it's you versus 4-5 pplz in the thread that agree otherwise...i'm sure we agree otherwise becuz we actually THINK before we post...

I never said I was better than you...or put you down...why don't you think about it from my perspective? Would you like it if someone came up to you...and asked you something that has no meaning.....or ask un-educated questions? I wouldn't like that...and i'm not the only one either...i'm sure alot of other members on here and the moderator that banned you feel the same way...come on dawg you are WAY smarter than this...the .org is so imformative, why don't you actually read up on this...or why don't u just run a search on google for that matter...the internet has so many possibilities..or just use plain ol' common sense and THINK before you DO...yet u fail to use such features and come up with alot of un-educated opinions/questions/statements....
