Sound is all a matter of opinion. And you didn't state that you did not want dual tips or the 2k, so be more clear in your original post so you can stop wasting my time.

I am looking for a muffler that is not much louder than stock while under 2-3000rps, and has a nice deep ,loud rumble at WOT, But do not want that ricer sound...

A clean sounding muffler...

i got mine custom done at a shop with a free flow cat for $280. That includes 2.5 inch piping, a free flow cat, and a flowmaster exhaust. Its loud as H*** and its kinda ricy and tinny sounding but the gains were great and it reverts to a low rumble after a minute or so.

If it's on the 3.5L don't you get headers instead?

I'm willing to bet if you didn't add a y-pipe in thre, your gains are less than 4hp. . .

what do you mean exactly? the headers replace the y-pipe but the b-pipe and muffler are still there. i plan on getting headers when the next batch comes but right now i need a exhaust casue mine is in bad shape and the sp2 sounds and looks good to me.

I heard the clips you put up the other day and I thought it sounded pretty good. I beleive that you have a full exhaust from y-pipe back, right?
How do you think that the Borla will sound by it self with just a y-pipe( I don't want to get the b-pipe).
Will it be quiter, louder, pointless? I don't really want to get the full exhaust so,what do you think?

Wow I didnt even know those clips were still floatin around! I actually don't have a full exhaust (yet). Right now I just have a budget b-pipe and the Borla muffler but the y-pipe will be coming in less than a month (I'm not going to bother replacing the cat unless it goes bad since there'd be little to no gains anyway).

Just out of curiosity, why don't you want to get the full exhaust? Money issues maybe? If I were you I'd shell out the extra $180 and do the b-pipe if you're already going to be doing the y-pipe and muffler anyway (that way you also won't have to bother unbolting/welding things if you decide to add the b-pipe later). If you do decide to do just the y-pipe and muffler though I would think the overall sound should be roughly the same. Only real audible difference in sound would be between b-pipes with different size resonators or no resonator at all, as I'm willing to bet few could actually hear the difference between a 2.25 and 2.5 inch pipe. In a way I do think it'd be pointless to do the y-pipe and muffler without the b-pipe though because you'll have a nice free flowing mandrel bent y-pipe, but then a pressure bent stock b-pipe right after it which will continue to restrict everything you just tried to free up with the y-pipe! (I probably make the effect sound worse than it really would be but you get my point). Just something to think about. Let me know if you have any other questions

cattman muffler, a nice deep sound just when you push on the gas, other than that on low rpm, you could barely hear it.
