HELP!!! Ive been Challenged by a 2k5 Altima SE-R..
Okay so today my bestes friend got him self a red Altima SE-R...
His previouse car was a 2k MAxima SE and all he had was a Injen intake..
Being as compititve as we are we always use to race each other when I
had my 97 Black Max SE and he always beat me.. When I got my white max
dropped with a CAI and Cat-Back I raced him again and I won.. SO lately
he has been talkin about getting an Altima SE-R (my current dream 4door)
and I knew he was gonna do it but I didnt know it was gonna be soon, I
figured Id be boosted by the time he got it... WELL today he got one and he
wants to run... What do I need to beat him (even though I know I dont have
a chance) or at least keep up with him... Im gonna try and stall him for a bit
and try and sneak in some parts... So far I got Cattman Y pipe, Greddy SP,
Cold Air Intake.. Would a UR pully help and a test pipe ?? this is somethin I can
afford ASAP.. Keep in mind were runnin at a 1/4 mile track.. Is it even possible
to keep up?? stock Altima SE-R 260Hp 6spd 3279lbs.. Vs. 99 Maxima SE 190hp
5spd 3010lbs w/ Cattman y-pipe, greddy sp catback, and CAI..

They can run low 14s stock with a good driver. You're probably gonna get your @ss handed to you. Not much you can do as far as "quick mods" go, unless he shifts at 4500 rpm
I like your car, that hood and your rims are hot... I hate to say it lol, but dude that se-r alt. will rock you like nothing....a testpipe and ud pulley will do almost nothing for you.... you need a 50-shot nos, turbo, or Superharger
Very true... I know I cant beat him but yet I could get on the bottle...
Im not about NO2 but its the cheapest mod with the most gain.. but then
again I honestly doubt Ill go that rout.. I guess Im gonna just swollow my
pride till the right day comes.. SE-Rs runn like mid to low 14s, Ive read
of several NA maximas hitting that time, Did they all have Mevi's and Raised
Revv limiters?? I spoke to Flava 24/7 about the MEVI and he said its not much
gain w/ out a revv limiter.. but no one makes a plug n play ECU for 99 maximas..
I read a thread about it being done but they had to rewire or sumthin.. Dammit, I feel the need for more speed..

motors averaging High to Mid 14s easy.. All I had was Injen CAI, Greddy SP,
and ACT Stage 1 clutch... SO Im sure I was at least runnin a 14.5s..

500$ with mevi and all the parts to install it(gaskets, etc..)
400-500$ for ECU and some tuning
500$ cat back and y pipe installed
50-200$ intake will actually decrease your power, zach has dynos to prove this
100$UD pulley
if you used a 50 shot of nos without him knowing, this would really make him shyt his pants !

You'll probably lose but best bet is to probably do all your shifts just before redline. someone did wrote up on how to shift a while back, worth a try trying to find it. Those SE-Rs I think are like 260hp stock.

Damn Im having a hard time beleiving that.. Then again I guess Ill have to
find out huh...
I'ts N2O for clarification. Not NOS or NO2 ....
People have run 14.3 w/o MEVI. But from the looks of it, you're not too much into racing at a track, so you do not know how to abuse your car to get that time. You will be
$500 cat-back .. hmm, that's
160 y-pipe, or at least under $200 because a cat-back hasn;t been proven to do much in the way of horsepower. Zacks dynos prove a midpipe does nothing well actually hurts the power curve, a POP still adds hp and keeps the curve decent when used w/o a m/p. Pulley does about as much for 1/4 mile times as a raised rev limter does for a non VI's USDM 4th gen Maxima.
Bottom line, race him to see how it goes, but my money's on the Altima.

like my 97 max, but I know how to run street or track... Ive been up against
several cars and won but the reason I ask is cause Ive never been up against
an Altima Se-r that I see is almost as fast a a 350z... I know more or less what
I need to do to max to get it where it needs to be to pull an SE-R.. I was just
asking incase there some other tips or trick I didnt already know about...
In other words what are the main mods that can put a 4th gen max in the mid
to low 14s.. In my head I would say Cat-Back, Y-pipe, C.A.I., Light Fly Wheel,
ACT clutch, UR pully, and Test pipe... I think that would put me in the 14s..
If you really want to beat him at the track just buy some slicks and lightweight 15in rims to mount them on. The slicks should allow you to jump him off the line and that might give you enough room before he chases you down. I've been able to beat several faster cars in my se-r with slicks that I wouldn't beat without them to the finish line.

o_O best of luck but I dont think you will be able to even keep... It's like when i raced my 98 max vs a friends 2000 max, both stock and auto. I just couldnt keep. Im ordering a Y-pipe tmrw and now i got an intake... so imma re-race him after the y is installed.
