Are you looking to drop or is your car dropped? Or are you staying 4x4, but just want new struts? Because Tokico Blues dont cost that much and can last for a long time..

Right now i dont have any rims...I was thinking about getting some but i dont know if i have the money right now too. My car isnt dropped at all. I think im going to stay with the 4 x 4 look, unless its not to much money to drop it. Would my car look dumb w/o rims and dropped?
Tokico Illumina Struts
hands down. anyone who has them has raved. you might as well get new springs now too, cuz you proly wont like the look/fell later and you ll have to do the whole spring/strut removal and replacing twice then.
do your best to do it right the first time and save yourself the trouble of doing it twice.
im in the same boat. gonna get Tokico Illumina and some springs, dunno which yet, and some 17s. so i figure i gotta get springs that drop a mininum of 1" to compensate for the bigger rim. ill prolly look for 1.5"

If you want cheap, go for KYB GR2's. They are about $80 each on TireRack.com and can be found cheaper than that if you look hard. They are about as stiff as the stock SE struts (just slightly stiffer).
Another word of advice: CHANGE THE STRUT BEARINGS AND MOUNTS. It takes zero extra time for them to put new ones on the car instead of the old ones when they change the struts. Trust me, you will be very happy you did it. If you don't, you'll be pulling those struts off again before long to change these relatively inexpensive parts. TireRack.com has the strut mounts (they come with bearings). $30 each for the fronts, $5 each for the rears. For $70 it's worth it.
Good luck. And don't buy expensive struts if that's not important to you. Illumina's are nice, but will cost much more than the GR2s or the Tokico Blues.

Thank you for the input.... Is tirerack the best/cheapest place to buy them? THanks again for everything WOuld ebay be a bad idea to buy these?

You can definitely get cheap prices on Ebay and people have had good luck there. But I cannot "recommend" such a thing as you are always taking a risk. Check the feedback for the seller before you buy.
I know tirerack. I've ordered stuff from there. They are solid. But if you find the deal of the century on Ebay, yeah take it. Just make sure it's not "too good to be true" or anything!
good luck!

Most springs will only drop you by 1.2 to 1.6 inches. I'm in Ithaca, NY. We get our share of snow. I put my snow tires on in winter and have no problems at all. No problems with pot holes. I have Tein H-tech springs with KYB GR2 struts. It's an inexpensive combination and performs reasonably. If you get S-techs you may start seeing troubles as that is a much bigger drop.
Your choice man. If keeping an extra inch of ride height is important to you, then by all means stay at stock height. Don't let others convince you of what WE THINK you need. In the end, you know best.

Get KYB GR2s (dont spend more on Illuminas if you dont want to - GR2s are perfectly fine) If you want to lower your ride then you can probably get used aftermarket springs from the Classified section of the forum or just can look for MaxSpeed springs
I went with the GR2/MaxSpeed combo and don't have any problems with it. Bought the struts for $260 shipped and the springs were around a $100 shipped
