I think I may have a shot Bearing and/or blown Shock.... How to tell??

Lately (for the last month of so) I’ve noticed that my steering wheel shakes at high speeds and makes a ‘wobbly’ type of noise at both low and high speeds. I suspect my bearings are shot but not sure if it is that or if it could be a blown shock. Tires are properly inflated and do not seem to have uneven wear.

Since I don’t have experience with either blown bearings or shocks, how can I tell the difference? Also, how can I tell if it’s coming from the left or right when noise is echoed throughout the car? Is there something I can do to test it?

I am leaning towards bearings by intuition just b/c the car ‘feels’ like the car gathers itself when going over a hump/bump. I am no mechanic but have a good understanding of cars and am thinking of taking a look at the bearings. Is there a cheap place to buy parts for the job? Also, anyone know how much it would cost for parts and labor?

Thanks,
pd
