White smoke coming out near the A/C compressor.

As the title said, I have no clue what's wrong with my A/C system. I did a complete flush of the freon. The mechanic recycle the freon and recharge it with new freon. When I drive local, I hear a hissing sound coming from the glove compartment. White smoke will starting brewing out of the engine. This only happens when I drive the car local. When I'm driving around 20 mph an hour or more, the A/C works fine. No hissing or white smoke.

Local (slow 4 to 10 mph): hissing sound from glove compartment and white smoke comes out near the A/C system.

Highway (15 mph or faster): A/C works fine. Cold as hell.

Anyone know what's wrong?

Thanks

The hissing noise I heard were near the glove compartment. Is no where near the engine. If it's a leak, than is a easy fix. The A/C had no problem on the highway, but it had problems when I drive local. If it were a leak, there would be steam coming out whenever I turn the A/C on. Steam seems to come out when the rpm is under 1000. Thanks for you info.

freon is r12, however most people still refer to r134a as freon, because well, who wants to talk about r134a all the darn time?
