Keyless entry

my keyless entry stopped working in my 96 maxima, and im sure its not the remotes, its the reciever (wherever that thing is hidden). anyway, i know it would be expensive as hell to get it replaced by the dealer. can anyone tell me if this would work for my car?

I hav minimal car knowledge, but im good w/ electronics in general. how hard would this be to install?

thanks in advance

I believe the keyless entry is battery operated and the battery won't last forever!

How are you sure that it's not the remote?

Have you noticed the range of your remote declining the last few times before it stopped workingt? If so it?s probably your remote battery. I think it?s pretty rare for a Maxima?s keyless entry system to fail completely. Or maybe you?re just looking for a reason to get rid of our horrible stock security system, which is probably a good idea if you dont want your car broken in to/stolen.

I think he answered that when he stated he tried 2 different remotes and changed the abttery in both, or did you not read that part.

have you checked the fuses?.

with regards to the ebay aftermarket alarm. you can fit any alarm to any car if you know what you are doing.

me and my buddy BlackMaxima had an issue where our keyless entry wouldnt work even when trying to reprogram it. we unplugged a plug in keyless entry module in the trunk and plugged it back in and that shiznit worked instantly. didnt even need to reprogram it.

Mind if I temporarily hijack? It's very related. I have a 95 GLE which supposedly comes with keyless, but we've had the car in the family since 30k miles and have never had any keyless.

How can I find out if the factory keyless is still working? Where is the reciever? (these Q's might be useful for our thread-starter, too!)

Awesome! Thanks man. And no problem on your thread.

If the box is there I will see about getting a receiver to see if it still works! I'll have to get it at a place with a good return policy, so if I can't get it to work I can still return the receiver! A zero risk solution. I like it!
