i have this sound that sounds like i am driving over small little hills or something that intensifies when i brake. it also causes my car to sort of jerk or slow like my antilock brakes are working at normal braking conditions.. its like humm.....hummm.... humm.... its hard to explain.. i am wondering if my brake rotors are warped??? any ideas??

thanks!!!

if it only does this when you're braking, most likely the rotors. when you brake hard, the brake pads heat up big time. then as you're waiting at the stop light, holding the brake, the rotors are cooling except for the part where the hot brake pads are gripping them, causing the rotor to not cool evenly and warpage to occur. did this happen after a hard stop? how many miles do you have? when did it start doing this? do the tires wear funny with feathering or are they pretty even wearing?

it mostly does it with softer braking. the tires are farely new. and rotated often, and are worn evenly.. i have 44k miles on the car.. the dealer said it is the rotors... any suggestions on new ones,,, should i do the rear at the same time if i replace them??

it's hard to know without seeing/driving the car. if the dealer drove the car and says it's warped rotors, that's probably it, as it sounds very possibly from your description of the problem. did the dealer say that you needed new ones? most of the time, they can turn, or resurface the rotors for like $15 a pop or about $25-$30 per side including labor. if the warpage is too bad or the rotors have already been resurfaced several times, there might not be enough material to resurface again, then you'll need new rotors. with that kinda mileage though, they should be able to just turn them.

no prob. with 44k mi, i don't think the rotors would be so bad that they couldn't be turned...
good luck!
