How did you prep the dash? I assume you used the dash paint at AutoZone?

did you use that vinyl dye stuff? ive heard that stuff works great, and i was planning on doing my interrior all white or all black with brushed aluminum accents. now that ive seen yours, i might just try it. by the way, how long did it take to get the dash out and paint it? if i do mine im gutting the whole thing at once and doing custom fiberglass enclosures for the rear speakers and the doors.

thanks for the great feedback guys! its really pretty simple - it just takes patience. so here's Grant's mini - "dash sexifying" write-up.

You will need:

and lots of rags or towels.

1. Wipe the dash down w/ a 409/water mixture.
2. Tape EVERYTHING within close proximity of your dash.
3. Use towels for seats, floor. etc.
4. Apply LIGHT, QUICK coats. Give each little coat time to dry. With this you cant go to slow, but you obviously can screw things up going to fast (paint runs and such)
5. Just take your time and make sure you clean the nozzle on the can by spraying it upside down every now and then.

i was pretty impressed w/ how it turned out - really wasnt that hard.

that paint is the FLAT not Gloss black.

Does it come close to chipping off? or rubbing off? Also do you continue to use Vinyal protectants after you paint it--Armor all, Vinylex, ect..

I notice some tan still showing on the bottom of your vents and by your dash cluster close to the radio. Overall great job. Are you doing the rest of the interior?

Did you paint the steeringwheel too?
Mine is tan & brown like the dash.

I have a wrecked max with black dash, I wonder if it would be better to swap the dash, center consol, and wheel or should I just paint...

Damn that looks really good...I think I might do that...I got two dash kits...I have a carbon fiber one now with my tan but I might change to aluminum if I do decide to do that. About how long did it take you overall?

Great job! Just need to hit all the nook and cranny areas that weren't painted. If I was in dire need to do this, I would have taken the entire dashboard out. Then paint it outside the car so you can thoroughly hit every corner and bends of that dash. Also paint each individual vents, pretty much everything that's "doo doo brown".

i did not paint the steering wheel - just any brown pieces.

id swap in the factory black - this turned out real nice but factory is still the best.

taking the dash out would have been the best but i didnt feel like messing w/ it.

the dash feels "stickier" i guess but im very impressed w/ the quality of the coat - the key is short quick sprays with time for drying between each.

the dash will chip if youre rough enough on it so im just being careful w/ it. I dont ever throw anything on it anyways.

i will take some more pics tomorrow when ive touched everything up for those who wanted a better perspective.

i do plan on accenting some more parts of the car - maybe the door panels themselves or little pieces on the door (handles etc.) ill keep you updated. I plan on getting some black sparco seats to really set off a nice contrast w/ the tan. thats really the theme im kinda going for (black and tan) 1. bc i think it looks hot and 2. bc theres not much else you can do w/ tan.

thanks for all the positive feedback guys.

Nice job on the paint. Did you just spray paint directly to the a/c duct as well? Coz mine is tan color too.

Yeah I guess that would be better, but thats a lot of work, I think I'll use an earlier suggestion and swap out some black accents. I don't want to mess with the air bags & covers.

not the interior floor, but every other peice of carpet in the car, yes. it wears off over time so i decided not to paint the floor. works great for everything else.
