Help with stereo
Alright so all in all I have spent a grand on the stereo system.
Pioneer 6700 HU
4 Blaupunkt 6.5" component Speaks
Bazooka 500w max amp
2 pioneer subs 600w max each
And it sounds like Sh*t.
It sounds like every time the bass hits the power surges and everything goes down a little bit. The back speaks dont sound anywhere near as loud as the front, and the tweeters have so much treble that they cause static even when the volume is low and the treble and mid levels are all the way down. The amp for 500w doesnt seem to be all that loud. I have heard cars with 250w amps that sound louder.
I used to have the Bose system...which is now completely removed..and all that speaks have been rewired to the HU. Somebody help. It sounds horrible, what can I do to fix this?

sounds like your system is drawing too much and your alt cant keep up thats why you loose power when the subs hit. I think they make something called 'power paks' to help with that. but im not a stereo wiz
do you have all the frequencies seperated?
if not, get a three-way crossover and seperate the low from the mids and highs.
it should sound better.
I think a capacitor might help you out too.
theres aslo a noise reducer that could help with the tweeters, if not the tweeters may be blown.

1) your headunit only puts out around 22watts of power. get a amp to match the speakers(this will get rid of the static)if u set the gain right
2) you want your car to sound like a concert. and stereo is 2 channel not 4. get rid of the rear speakers. you want music coming from the front not the back.
3) set your x-overs right.
4) just buying subs does mean they'll sound good. get some better subs. thoes pioneers just make noise. no quality.

get better equip no offense but i work at tweeter and i hear this all the time form people with bazooka amps.... so its not just you as for the componet speakers ... check you crossover settings and you eq settings on ur deck ....

2. unbridge the 2 channel...split them..you will get less power..but a combination of 4 speakers will sound better then just 2..unless the amp is running the subs...well then...i just like to tell you now bazooka sux..thats from experience
3. also get passive and active cross overs...im pretty sure you have the active ones..so check on e-bay for plar capacitors is you need something passive..here is a link to a web site that measures Ohm and UF rating..check it and caculate how much you want filitered through your mids...i suggest getting a capacitor that filter anything lower than 300 http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=1
4. pioneer do suck because they are made from s****t and they also have a realy low db rating
5. check specs on your blaupunkt and make sure they have over 90 db sensitivity rating...
6 check your HU and make sure it has Signal/Noise ratio either 9 or over
and if you listen to radio make sure your radio-signal goise ratio is over 90...if not you have a ****ty HU also
7. last thing is AMEK SURE YOU STILL HAVE THE RECIEPT FOR THE STUFF YOU BOUGHT...IF I WERE YOU GO INVEST IN SOMETHING LIKE THIS
HU: Kenwood x679 discontinued (only on ebay)
Speakers: Kove Audio Speakers/ Eclipse/ Polk (not so recommended)/MB quarts (also not so recommended)
Subs: Polk DVQ Sub/ Kenwood tornadoes/jl audio (higher then W0)/Roksford fosgate XLC/ Kenwwood Kicker Comp VR's (check the specs on these to make sure they are the good ones b4 you buy them)
Amp: BOSS (very godo quality..reliable as ***)/ Fosgate/ Diamond Audio/ Hi fonics and ZEUS (These Two hifo and zeus i highly recommend also with boss)
return your **** if you still can and replace with some of these..you will not be disappointed with these product..i do installs for Andrew Custom's here in Cali
how much did you pay for the entire system...if it was more than 350 you got ripped off. you cant just buy those subs and hope they will sound great, getting a good system all together should cost over $500. so its better to save up and then go ebay or w/e...if nething ill buy those subs nd amp for my room. oh and for subs you should look at the RMS(usually half the MAX) wattage...not the max, most of the time max is bull so yea
My System:
subs:2 12" Audiobahn Alum12N 2000 watts max each(1000watts RMS) $230
amp: Audiobahn A1500 Mono 4000watt amp (2000w rms X 1@1ohm) $450
head: Pioneer Premier 650 DEH (came with car)
Component: Pioneers...? (came with car)

first off...BOSS not BOSE....second Fosgate has very good high end stuff....third MB quarts are known to blow very easily....and fourth...W0's suck...jl audio W0 and W3's such my d*ck because of the POS material they are made out of and ****ty db range..so there
lol thank you, Rocksford Fosgate is the sh*t i used to have the HX2 punch and they kick good, and i was using a boss amp...JLs are okay but expensive so if you can afford W3s then w/e...i think the best subs are from Fosgate and Audiobahn...Mendon wut kind of system you got?

i would only buy a w7 from jl, but jl is so over priced. Go Rockford, very good quality and not to expensive
i have:
2 rockford punch HX2's 12' 200 (ebay)
1000 bd Rockford amp 175(ebay)
1 cap Rockford + 4 gauge wiring kit Rockford 135 (Best buy discount)
Sony Xplod HU 220 (circuit City)
(4) pioneer 4 way 6.5 in speakers 150 (best buy)
Custom box i built 50 bucks
I'd try a capacitor for the subs. Crossover for the tweets, while you're at it cross it all over. And keep all four channels, just bias them to the front (with the subs off) you want the rear speakers to provide fill sound, not noticeable, on a 15-0-15, this is usually around 4 to the front. Crank it up and fade it all the way to the front. Listen for a minute, then slowly push the fade to the back until you nitice the rears. Note the number and go all the way to the rears. No go to the front until you don't hear the rears anymore. If you did not stop at the same place as before, split the difference. You will be happier with the sound. Once you get that right, fire up the subs and set the gain. A low pass crossover would be nice here. Maybe there's on built into the amp. Good luck

-i didnt say bose, i said BOSS, just like you did. theres a reason why they are so cheap on Ebay. they're shyt.
-iv'e heard nothing but bad things about fosgate, from everyone iv'e known who has tried them. Iv'e had 2 fosgate amps in the past, 1 blew mad quick, and one had major speaker whine thru my 6x9's, switched to a kenwood on the same setup, then they sounded beautiful
-W0's are great subs for how cheap they are, and W3's, especially the V2's slam, what system's have you been listening to?
-Also, maybe the newer MB Quarts blow easy cus they were bought out by FOSGATE.

You're kidding me right??
: Audiobahn can barely compete with Alpine in the sub market, let alone companies like Ascendant Audio, Adire Audio, Sound Splinter and Resonant Engineering. Shady, I suggest you find some new audio companies to rep.

oh and boss sucks, period. Just face it, ask ANY audiophile, right down there with pyle, and pyramid.
Also, if you knew anything about JL audio, you'd know that they underrate their power rating majorly..
sorry to ***** up your thread InsneDrmr, don't worry im done argueing with this idiot.
lol i think audiobahns are good, they are loud and have better quality than apline, i rep audiobahns and fosgates cuz i acn afford them (Fosgate Type RF subs). and what really matters is the amp itsself....

1 farad capacitors are generally good for up to 1000 watts i believe. Cardomain has them for i think around $55 bucks. its made by rockfor fosgate.
You should be getting an amp just to power your subs and subs only, dunno if you're powering your interior speakers too.
One thing i do'nt like the pioneer head unit is because it really doesn't have any control over the subs. I believe the only way you can control the subs as subs is by changing the back speakers as subs too.
for a $1000, you could have had a decent system. I personally like sony's, but a lot of people don't. Get an amp that will power your subs and not overkill it. There is no point of getting a 2000 watt amp for 300 watt subs.
The box that the subs sit in are very important also. make sure that they are individual boxes meaning that they have a piece of wood in between both subs. I personally like enclosed boxes versus bandpass. bandpass are the ones taht have the plexiglass in front of the subs n the enclose is just the subs.
I've had many systems. I didn't like bazooka at all and returned it. i then got polk, didn't like them, and then went with sony's. I then though rockford fosgate was much better then my sony's. I thought wrong once i bought them, and then returned them and stuck to my sony's. If you want a nice clean hit, i would suggest to get 3 10's instead of 2 12's. 15's are way distorted. If you are thinking about JL W6 or W7, the box for it is huge in the first place, and the amp is going to be ridiculously expensive.
I personally kept my bose speakers, n just changed my head unit and added subs. sound good to me since bose had pretty good speakers in the first place..
