need your help!! need everyones help!! i tink i blew my tranny again! help plz every1

OK OK so i did my new brembo cross drilled rotors and my pads.. soo i went to go bed in the pads, i started driving for a couple minutes and the break in procedure said try not to stop, so i kept gearing down to 2nd to 1st slowly, and then pulling up the e brake so i couldnt mess up the pads.

anyways 10 minutes later i dropped it into 1st and i heard clank, i put it in drive and the tranny started to slip. then all the fluid leaked out and the car couldnt go no where..... wtf!! im an automatic and this is my 2nd time my tranny blew!! but this time i have a tranny cooler and drop resistor mod... o shiet i hope the dr mod didnt **** up my tranny.

but everyday b4 this my tranny was shifting fine.. could it be my tranny or could it just be a seal where the fluid leaked out? im so shocked and confused. god plz help me..........fakwk

manually shifting an auto is never a good idead for reasons like this. The newer tiptronics, manumatics and SMGs are built for it but your Maxima 4 speed auto was not. sorry can't give you any advice but i think you destroyed the tranny

Bedding in the pads requires you to make a few agressive stops followed by cool down intervals of about a mile in between stops. You should try to keep the vehicle moving while this is being accomplished.

Using the E-brake to slow down applies the rear pads only and can cause them to overheat quickly causing premature failure or glazing. Not a very good thing to do on a new set of pads.

The drop resistor mod is what distroyed your transmission.

I thought I read somewhere else that it doesn't effect the tranny at all if you use it at WOT

You don't have to go to the extreme of downshifting your autotragic Do a search on bedding the pads, I am not sure if its in the stickies. I have read it in some thread many moons ago. The process is not just simply taking it easy with the new pads, downshifting your transmission. I know that after installing new pads (the regular kind), you'd have to do a few aggressive stops as well and let the pads cool down after. Then its set. More is needed in your situation. BTW, I didn't know you have nitrous! Hows your clutch holding up? You might want to start putting money away for that, clutch job in an automatic tranny is way more complicated than a manual thus will cost you more $$$. Oh and why do you change your tranny fluid every 5k, isn't that going a bit over-board too?

no in this case i had too flush the trany.

ok this is what happened, i was driving till 80 mph to 10 mph to break in the brakes.
on my way doin this the car bottomed out some how and the tranny pan got a big dig on it, a hole the size of a penny. so all the fluid leaked out and the car wasnt going anywhere. so i took the pan to a muffler shop let them weld it for me, because dealers parts arent open on sudays, and thats the only place that has it around here. Plus i need the car for this week.

so i had no choce but to buy a new screen gasket and put in new fluid.

btw the rotors look soo sicik. BREMBO crossed drilled and slotted paired with ebc green stuf

i really hope that you don't change your tranny fluid every 5k. Recommended is every 60k. so you can do it at 35k if you want, but every 5k, that is TOTAL BS

4-6 on drain and fill?

so i need 12 quarts, then?? because if there was a hole in the oil pan and all my oil leaked out that means i had about less than a quart..

so the 6 quarts i put in now is a waste becasue it would make the tranny run hot??

You said you flushed your tranny 5k miles ago, so why flush again and waste 12 quarts? Just fill it with 6, unless your tranny was bone dry when it all leaked out.

Well maybe tranny flushes can be harmful. I've seen it, but at others time I haven't.

I didn't see this happen on my bro's 88 honda. His transmission fluid was light brown, like mud. I don't know how the PO (previous owner) kept the tranny running as long as he did. It shifted horrible before the fluid change. Now it runs great, so I guess it depends on the life of the remaining clutch bands. I dunno. My bro bought the honda for $500 (sunroof, ac, power windows, new rims, etc.), and I advised he not worry about they tranny, due to the horrible fluid condition. Guess I was right this time.

Anyway, 2damax, How did "the car bottom out some how". Just wondering. I notice when I bottom out my maxima or 4runner frequently. Maybe a rock in the road that just chipped at the pan?

The tranny fluid that leaked out of your pan is about 6 qt's, the rest stays in the torque converter and such, but you were driving while there was no fluid in it so it probably did get sprayed out ...

Put 4 qts in, start it and check the level. Add more as necessary to being it up to the correct level.

Glad everything turned out OK for you.

this wasnt caused by manual shifting. I do it all the time in my a/t downshift it and also run it from 1st up. i have done it for almost a year and a half now. This had to have happened because of something else.

dam do yal read?? i said i put a HOLE IN MY OIL PAN SO ALL THE FLUID LEAKED OUT.!

neways i got it fixed, and now i only put 7 quarts in.the shifts are smoothe, and soft, but not hard, like the shifts aren powerful enough.

is it possible all the fluid from the tc came out aswell? i mean not all, because if the tc had little or no fluid it will bang hard when engaged in a gear

Well you'll need 12 quarts if all fluid are gone including the tc. But since it only took you 7 quarts to fill it back up, that means you got fluid in the tc.

Regardless of the outcome, its always a bad idea to overfill even with motor oil onto the engine. That's why there's a dipstick to tell you your min and max level.

Well it should still be hot to the touch because the external surface still conduct heat. What do you mean by it staying cold in hot days???

Downshifting (without rev matching ) is bad in auto as the clutchs take the brunt of the kick down, upshifting is okay - keep downshifting and prepare for a rebuilt eventually.
