Can breaks squeel when worn out?

What i want to know is: is it natural for breaks to squeel when worn out even when i am not applying the break?

replace the pads, most all pads have a tab on them so when the pads get low they will start squeeling

I had this problem on the van. There are no more pads left and the pad end is grinding on the rotor. Had to get new pads and new rotors. The old rotors couldnt even be cut down anymore.... GET IT REPLACED/FIXED NOW!!!

yes, do it ASAP, unless you let it go further and then end up replacing your rotors, costing you more $$ at the same time

getting your rotors cut is about $10 bucks. a new rotor i about $35. save yourself some hassle. get an extra pair of rotors for each wheel. that way you can have fresh rotors ready to be put on instead of having to take them off n drive to the shop n wait for them to cut it and then drive back. this way, next time you need to replace your breaks, you can just drop off your rotors to the shop like a week earlier for them to cut your rotors n now you don't have to wait again

Brakes can squeal at any point in their lifetime. However, if you are getting a constant squeal, even when not applying the brake.....it might be a caliper sticking. Mine did that, but it was just some worn out rear pads. I had about 110K miles on mine when I had to replace them.....it is not that hard, but just kind of time consuming....depending on how easy the calipers are to get compressed. One of mine was not easy....therefore, it took a long time. But it is great now.

I think it is supposed to have something to do with your rear caliper.
Check the pads and calipers on the rear, and see what is going on.
It might be a sticking caliper.

It depends on how you drive and the pads you're using. They are usually checked at the yearly inspection.

I usually check them myself at least once year in between inspections.

The rear pads tend to last years as they aren't really used in our cars as much as the front brakes.

Dragonmax- That could be either brake dust or uneven ware on the back pads, alot of times the rear pads do not get changed as often as the fronts due to they are not used as hard. check them and replace the pads, make sure you use the shims and the brake grease or what ever it is called to minimize the squeeks. get into the habbit of replacing all the pads when the fronts need to be. be safe!

vqmax- that is a common thing with fords, i had it happen to a ford probe i owned and the mechanic told me he has see that alot with ford cars. alot of the pads for the fords come with out the warning tab that is supposed to squeel when they are low causing them to get dagerously low and when they over heat they will fuze together.
